Attached Link: SlideShowPro for Flash
I'll agree with that. You can disable right-clicking etc but it only slows someone down. Viewing the source or even copy it out of your temp files. I am only speaking for image files, but the most I have seen "swiped" from a Flash site is a screenshot.Problem with Adobe .. everything they sell is $$$$$
I like SlideShowPro (see attached link) for use in a site, but it's a component for Flash 8 and Flash MX. The plug-in is cheap, but how much is Flash?

I'm a quasi-geek myself, and I have found Flash to be the most difficult nut to crack in terms of swiping things. Would you all agree?
Thread: Film B&W vs Digital B&W? | Forum: Photography
Personally, it's film and I think if some of the old masters were alive they would agree.
However ....
When camera makers like Canon and Nikon announce they're no longer developing new film bodies, but you'll be able to buy they bodies they already make - what does that tell you about what you'll have to learn?
Is digital B&W or grayscale and mono?
I decided to continue shooting film as long as they still make it and I have the gear. I don't think film will be obsolete in my lifetime ...
Right now I have one wish about digital. To buy just ONE digital body that is NOT obsolete or the value doesn't depriciate 50% as soon as you open the box.
Thread: DSLR options 800 or less | Forum: Photography
If you really wanted to step up your game you should consider looking at one of the "prosumer" DSLR's .. like a Rebel XTi kit. It may be more than your budget, but it may be a better investment.
Cameras like that are top-sellers for a reason.
Personally, I don't think you say, "What's the best DSLR for $800?"
If you're going to research cameras, find the best camera that meets you wants, needs and will help you advance your skills ... find the best deal and try to afford that camera.

That would vary depending on your location. The popular sites in the US are OneModelPlace and ModelMayhem - they require a membership.I'll attach a link to a list of model forums where you can post for models.
You could also network with someone that shoots and simply do a joint shoot.
Look around for Model Shootouts or take a workshop that's dedicated to shooting with models.
You can easily find models around local art colleges that offer photography classes.
For now, you could simply just ask someone you know to pose for you.
All of the models that are in my gallery here I found from advertising on CraigsList.

Thread: Software..PSP Photo XI...anyone tried it? | Forum: Photography

I agree with you. I have PS7 and CS2 - minus the advantage of plug-ins, I've received the same results or in some cases better from other programs like PSP and ACDSeePro - they're a lot cheaper. In some cases I've used this freeware (attached link)Â and had great results.
Quote - Well Tom I think it is a great programme for the Money no idea about the latest version of PSP  I still use version 8  but save for the web with CS2 certainly gives me all the power I need to get the right control and the human eye is still the best judge of quality.  PSP is less memory hungry that Photoshop CS2 and less processor dependant but if you tweak photoshop you can make it fly along. Having forked out all that money for CS2 seems to me to be pointless... I am still discovering new things it can do since version 4!!  It may be a bit of a monster but I am sure you can do what ever you like with it... You can save a lot of time in photoshop by the use of the batch processing and actions Â
Thread: Software..PSP Photo XI...anyone tried it? | Forum: Photography
I recently installed XI as an upgrade from from ver. 9. I've never used 7 or 8 so I can't compare it to those two versions.
I used PSP for basic editing as I found it to be a little easier and faster than PS or CS2.
The only reason I have XI is Corel gave me a boxed version upgrade. Ver. 9 had some flaws. Converting CR2 RAW files to JPEG with embedded data or EXIF data never worked properly. I opened a tech support claim with Corel in June 2005 and they just resolved it last week.
I've only tried and couple of images in XI and it was okay. It does have a lot of auto-fixes or what they call "Smart Fix" and "One-Step" fixes, but it also allows for more control in manually editing. Better cropping tools. The levels and curves are better. I was mainly interested in what it could do with basic editing more so than the toning options it now has, so I compared it to PS, CS2 and couple other editors. I was pleased with the results. Once you get your preferences set, to me, it was easy and user friendly. There's some sort of photo album organizer that I don't use and a media card reader management tool called Spitfire that I'll never use. Let's not forget you can now import/export between other Corel programs .. like Painter, etc.
What I find interesting is in less than two years four different versions of PSP has been released. XII, according to Corel, is scheduled to be released in the 1st quarter of 2007.
I think if you downloaded the trial version and compared it to what you have you'd like it. For the current price it's not bad, especially when you compare it to Adobe's prices.
Another editor that I bought and really like is ACDSeePro. :)
Quote - Folks, I started with PSP and the latest version I have is #8. I use Photoshop CS2 for most of my work but find PSP to be quicker and easier in some procedures, such as the "export to .jpg" which gives exact file sizes at the users discretion.
Corel has owenership of PSP now, not JASC. That concerned me from the start! The ads for the new version XI call it Paint Shop Pro Photo XI.  The ads also make me think this program is full of auto corrections, things like that which I would not use. The ads make me think they are aiming at consumer level appeal. I wonder if the program has been compromised.
Does the program have all the graphics capability of earlier versions?
Sorry, I am a software junkie but do not want to get a program aimed at mostly easy auto correct options. Any input will be appreciated.         Â
PS> I really don't need another graphic software. It is in me to find out.       TomDart.
Thread: Canon 20D "phenomenon." | Forum: Photography
IÂ know that it's possible, but I am not doing all that just for one lens. IÂ can just shoot Canon glass on the 20D and do nothing. I also have a 5D and the lens works fine on that body.
I was just curious if anyone else has seen this before or had similar issues.
The 20D will soon be the matching paperweight to my old Rebel anyway.
I am looking at both the 30D and XTi as a second digital - just haven't decided which one yet.
Quote - Is it possible to go back to the old firmware and reinstall the newer version... Please remove the lens from your camera before performing this update.
After completing the update, turn the camera off and remove the battery for at least two seconds.
This will cause the camera to recognize the new firmware.
Thread: Canon 20D "phenomenon." | Forum: Photography
Personally, I think it's firmware. If you read through the thread this only happens with this lens, but also specific camera settings.
It only happens in a 20D and AFTER the 2.0.2 firmware upgrade from May, 2005
I shot with this lens prior to the upgrade and this did not happen.
I just posted this ....
Turning ON the ISO expansion ends the "phenomenon."
Quote - How bizarre! This must be an electronic ... I would take the lens back to Tamron and get it rechipped has to be the easiest option if you want to save space on your card... Or put the lens on ebay maybe somebody would like that feature!! Be interesting to know if the lens does the same on another 20DÂ
Thread: Canon 20D "phenomenon." | Forum: Photography
This only happens when I use that one particular lens. I only have that one Tamaron lens as the rest are Canon.
The only time I have seen this happen is in the following settings:
RAW + JPEG
Parameter 1
Using any Creative Zone
This morning I finally found a way to stop it from happening.
Turn the ISO expansion ON in the custom functions.
Quote - Yes have to agree with you about the extra space usage being a pain. I always shoot in raw/jpeg. But trying to remember when i did the B&W parameter if i ended up with four photos. Thought just two. Will try tomorrow to see what i come up with. I just use Canon lenses and also have Canon20D.Have a great weekend:)

Thread: Canon 20D "phenomenon." | Forum: Photography
I am not totally sure, but if I had to guess I'd say it's firmware. The EXIF data for the RAW and color JPEG read a Paramter 1 setting and the B/W shows being processed in the B/W parameter.
This started after the 2.0.2 firmware upgrade last year. I had the Tamaron lens about a month before the upgrade and it never did this until after the upgrade.
Canon did tell me that some EF-S lens users were getting both color and B/W images when they use a #25 red filter.
I don't mind the extra image, but it's becoming an annoyance. It takes twice the card space and the buffer is cut in half. A 4GB 80x that normally holds 465 JPEG + RAW is now 230
More reasons why I think it's firmware ... the same lens on a 5D and an XTi - no problem.
