Thread: Fabric Textures - Pack 1 : Now in the Marketplace | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase
The textures are original and royalty free. They were created with a texturing program (Texture Maker) using a combination of "Genetic Texturing" which can move a texture in a direction you're interested in, and then modified slightly in most cases with other specific tools (like weathering - seen on the future 'wall/floor' tile set, color modification, etc). But they aren't hand drawn, and range from simple 'trim' type textures to fairly complex patterns. If you want a close look at five of em, take a look at my freestuff section.

I hope to be able to post packs of 50 textures apiece, separated into: 1. Fabrics 2. Wall/Floor/Wood 3. Glass 4. Miscellaneous Look for the first pack (Fabrics most likely) this weekend, and perhaps a second one. Pricing will likely be $5 a pack. I may create a larger 'sampler' of the ones I consider to be the best for those who want more variety in a pack, also for the marketplace.

And I just got a big smile on my face when I saw the picture. Adding said textures to actual models falls into one of those 'Mystery' categories.. I've only ever done it to a very basic level. So it's nice to see them used in ways I've both thought they could be, and ways I hadn't thought of.

The link to the picture that aprilrosanina created didn't work so I'm trying again.A bit more information. These textures are broken into 5 main categories:
Fabric - A wide variety of fabric 'types', patterns, trims and colors. The example in the Sampler pack is the lace texture.
Floor/Wall - These are textures that look a bit smoother, some have weathering applied to them, and usually involve geometric patterns. Examples in the sampler include the 'darkstone-diamond' texture (which also shows weathering effects) and 'ethereal-demon'. The latter is part of a subset of quite a few textures I created, that I felt had a demon/dragon look to them.
Glass - These textures just looked like glass to me, and an example is 'purple_glass_diamonds' in the sampler.
Wood - Self explanatory enough. This category has the fewest textures so far and have various amounts of weathering applied. An example in the Sampler is 'Weathered_Wood'.

Thread: OT - A site for the Pun of It | Forum: Writers
What was the phrase I heard once.. "A pun is the lowest form of humor, but the highest form of language." Freud was attributed I believe, at least to the first part... My own punny bone tends to be a bit slow in getting going, so I just tend to do lots of groaning instead, since many of my friends pun uncontrollably.

Congratulations aprilrosanina! As mentioned above, I agree with the choice, but others were very good too. :)
Thread: 3D Canvas Pro | Forum: 3D Modeling
Thanks for the link, I should have remembered to post it. A note about the .avi creation.. It gives big files. :) A simple 10 second animation was 44 megs when I did it and that was with nothing but the motion of a single object with no background. There was a light source though. Another note. If you plan to run it, shut down all other programs that might be running that you won't need. It hogs system memory rather strongly.

Wow.. 15 and able to write like that while considering yourself rusty. The only 'poetry' I ever come up with is a phrase or two when describing something. Actually trying to write poetry doesn't work for me, my mind doesn't work that way it seems, so those who are naturals at it get my utmost respect.
Thread: Question about 3D Canvas Pro (and advice for anything else?) | Forum: 3D Modeling
Thanks for the advice. I've also looked at Wings 3D based on a recommendation and like that program too. I've played with 3D Canvas Pro and really like the way it feels, though it doesn't play well with other programs. Had to shut down Zone Alarm Pro (not an issue so much with my router handling the same job), ICQ, Weather Bug and SETI@home just to get it to run smoothly. GMAX might be nice too, and I'll take a look at it, but if I'm not mistaken it has a royalty clause for anything made and sold. Mind you, that's getting way ahead of myself, but Canvas looks like it has all the functionality of animator, renderer and modeling programming that I'd need in an interface I can use easily. Anyone interested might take a look at this site: http://www.amabilis.com/products.htm Milkshape is something I'm still playing with, but Wings 3D might have all the functionality I need to create low polygon stuff in it, and then transfer to Canvas to do some extras. sighs Too many toys.

I'll add my vote with those above for aprilrosanina's. Somehow the pacing and tone of the poem match the quiet, serene confidence of the woman in the picture. Truly writing that portrays the image. sleiqu's "Eternity" also works quite well for many of the same reasons.
