I seem to have found one I like. An Olive shade, I did bagginsbill's rgb values with a tweak to the sss and diffuse reflectivity, 0.6 and 0.5, respectively.

That's a feature I love about your shader, it still allows for specularity even if the map is crap. (Though it's better to make a new, accurate specular map)

Yes, that's what I seek. I want a latina woman, not tanned, hence my new thread. Thank you. Any thing else I should change? SSS? I use IDL, by the way.

I use Poser Pro 2010, with render GC enabled. I also use the Angel V4 skin texture from DAZ. It had a bad specular map so I adjusted it in Photoshop. And yes, the spec map (as well as bumb map) are all individual texture maps.

Right, I know about that. Have experimenting it for days, haha, trying to find the right tone to use. Most results lead to my skin becoming unhumanly brown, alien-ly brown.

The lightmeter is invaluable. I don't render without it when building new lightsets. I agree that it is a must need.

What BB told me:
If we blend as in that tutorial, we do:
A: Blend(S, T * S, f) = (1-f) * S + f * T * S
If we use Texture_Strength equal to f, we have:
B: S * Blend(1, T, f)
I will now prove that these two setups are the same:
B
{ substitute definition of B }
= S * Blend(1, T, f)
{ substitute the definition of Blend }
= S * ((1-f) * 1 + f * T)
{ (1-f) * 1 = 1 - f }
= S * ((1 - f) + f * T)
{ distribution of multiplication over addition }
= (1 - f) * S + f * T * S
{ definition of A }
= A
Voila. B = A.

I actually asked BB about that in a PM a while back, and eh said that 2007 technique is actually identical tot he technique he outlined to me (which I passed to you).

Because it is multiplying the non white colors, just like in real life. Bagginsbill is the oen that taught me the technique.

Actually it's much much simpler: As long as the textures of the cars, tattoos, etc, are on a white background, all you gotta do is plug in the image map into the Color Tint node. That's it. Color tint multiplies the Diffuse color map with the plugged in image map, so the white will appear as the skin and the scars/tattoos will appear correctly overlayed on the skin.

BB: That covers daylight, sure. But I've been having issue getting good natural night light, still.
