I bought 3D Gamemaker which is based on DarkBasic. Running it on a PC with Windows XP it was Crashtastic. I don't think I ever got it to run properly, and it was worse after updating from their website (which looked to me as if it hadn't been touched for a couple of years). The idea was great, I wish it worked for me, as putting my own models into a game seemed like fun. Let us know if DarkBasic is better. Groucho

Why not copy the object, put one picture on one object and the other pict on the other object. Then just use the transparency to mix between the two. I have a feeling that a faster graphics card will not change the render time, just get the finnished pictures to your screen quicker. Groucho3D

Computers use square pixels, TV has rectangular pixels, and depending on the system you are using, PAL, NTSC, 16x9 or 4x3 the shape changes. Prepare to have your head explode with maths and have a look at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/branding/picturesize.shtml I have found that different bits of TV software e.g. Premier, Final Cut Pro,Discreet Flame and Quantels Edit Box all do different things to to incoming "computer graphics". I normally use 768x576 for PAL 4x3 pictures and 1024x 576 for PAL 16x9 widescreen. But you could try making one frame with a large circle on it. Then importing that and see how distorted it looks on TV. Groucho

If you are making your own HDRI images from digital photos, either from a probe, or just a straight picture, one exposure will work, but will be a LDI(low dynamic image). It will light the scene but only in a very general way, but will provide good reflections. Try bracketing the main exposure with shots 1 or 2 stops up and down, or as many stops as you like. Then combine them in HDRIshop. The lighting will become more scene specific, shadows will harden where they should, espcialy if there is a sun in the shot! Don't forget to use a tripod, as the frame must register.

FYI, It isn't in the manual but.. If the Gooble is set to greater than 10 then the Frabbleization will be phase limited to 90 degrees, and a reflux inversion may occur. Just thought you needed to know.

I'm new to this HDRI stuff too, and have been trying to make HDRI images from my digital camera. I have found you need to make as many exposures as you can up and down by multiples of 3 stops on each exposure. Until the picture is blown out or black. Then combine them in HDRShop. You can even add a sun into one of the darker exposures to get harder lighting. You do need this range to light the 3D scene properly. Could the Terragen picture, altho it looks nice, not have the dynamic range of lighting to correctly light the scene and be a background as well. I have also found that HRRI images are useless as backgrounds, and should only be used as a light sources. I use another image in backdrop, usualy a digital photo taken in the opposite direction of the HDRI. I'll keep trying if you all will. PS Has nobody tried all the free HDRI images on the full Version 3 CD, or are you still waiting for it to arrive... He He

I agree with bluetone, render out a TIF sequence and use that in an editing programme until you are ready to make your MPEG2. Rendering fields will make you animation look much smoother, and any quick movements will not 'strobe' as much. If you happen to be in the UK or most of Europe or Australia then the picture size should be 720x576 and 25 frames a second (50fps if you must do fields) if you are doing a 4x3 shaped frame. Here in the UK, and for most widescreen DVDs the picture ratio is 16x9 which equates to a pixel size of 1024x 576 (Oh God! I can see this is going to get complicated)but then the editing programme should squash it up to 4x3 to make a 16x9 full hight anamorphic picture. If you really must know more then look at www.mill.co.uk/widescreen . Hope this helps, good luck.
