Whenever I start to feel that way, I try to think of a short film called "Father and Daughter". Very simple and very moving.

Thread: Matching Background and Lights | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There is a method of using "HDRShop 1" + the plugin "Lightgen" to generate a Mel script that creates and arranges 3d lights based on Lightprobe image data.
Stefan Werner wrote a Poser Python script that converted the Mel script into something that Poser 5 could use.
If you feeling really adventurous, you could use BB's Environment Sphere as a background, then his GenIBL - IBL Generator to create the Lightprobe, then HDRShop+Lightgen to generate the Mel script, the Stefan's script to make the Poser light rig.... Whew!!!
Or, you could eye-ball it :)

Thread: OT: Converted video plays faster than audio? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello
Check out WinFF - it's a GUI that uses FFmpeg (included with download) to convert video formats.
"*.m2ts" is a h.264 video stream and acc audio stream, so it is possible to use FFmpeg to transfer the video and audio data from the AVCHD container to a MP4 container without re-encoding (some video editors "see" mp4 a little better.)
good luck
Thread: rendering AVI movie without background (alpha channel) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello,
I think with Adobe products like Premiere (I haven't used it in a while) Uncompressed is default and you have to go into your "preferences" and change the default to a codec, or you need to create render profiles that you can choose from before output, or just before you render, click on uncompressed, look at it's properties, then choose "Video For Windows" and then select the codec you want to use for your movie.
good luck
Thread: rendering AVI movie without background (alpha channel) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello,
If you're usings Windows , try a very good and very compatible VFW Lossless codec called "Ut Video Codec Suite"
(Click link and scroll down to the bottom for latest version (v8.5.0) )
There are four encoding modes:
RGB - for regular Poser output
RGBA - for Poser output plus Alpha,
YUV422 - suitable for capturing live analogue video
YUV420 - suitable for DV video and DVD video
Ut Video Codec appears to "get-along" better in more applications than Lagarith Lossless does.
So,.... render out an image sequence, load them into your editor and save out an AVI or save out you animation directly from Poser with Ut Video Codec RGBA and the alpha information should be preserved.

In Poser there is a python script under "Utilities" called "Collect Scene Inventory" . Run this script and then choose "Copy to Folder" and hit OK. You can now select a folder to save ALL the objects and textures in your current scene.

There is a relatively new, open source renderer being developed , called Mitsuba. Some people over in the Blender community are quite excited about it and with good reason, The renderer is very powerful even in it's early stages, plus the developer is talented and open to input.
Personally, I think Smith Micro should get in contact with this young man before the big guys snap him up.

Thread: grouping in other apps than poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ooops, forgot to add. After importing the converted object, open the Grouping Tool so that Poser can recognize the groups - simply openning the tool does the trick.

Here is a Python script (based on a script by rjjack) for converting Material zones to Groups. It doesn't work within Poser, so you may have to install Python onto your system. ( delete extension ".txt" from the attached file)
What to do:
Export your object to a directory and call it "object_export.obj"
Next, copy the Python script to that same directory.
With Python installed, double click the script to run it. The script will look for the file called "object_export.obj" and convert all materials to groups and save a new file called "poser_import.obj".
Import this new file into Poser and you're good to go.
