Hey bill,
I just upraded from P8 and am very impressed with the new Subsurface Skin node. With a simple texture and this node, I can get way better results than I ever did with P8.
However, the skin shader you provide in your VSS prop is still better than the new Subsurface Skin node.
Would you please show we PP2012 users how to add this new node to your VSS prop to create an even more fantastic skin shader?
Thread: Saving a partial render in VUE 9 | Forum: Vue
Just to finish up on this topic for future answer seekers...
Yes, I hit ESC to stop and the 7.5 seconds that got rendered to that point were saved to my video format.
I also saved the project with the option to continue the render later.

BTW, my running theory is that it will save what I have so far.
I had aborted an earlier test after 20 frames and that movie was saved.
I just would like confirmation before I stop it and loose a day's worth of rendering.

After reading only the first couple of posts, I grabbed BB's lights and went to work on the attached pix. It took three times to get these results since I had his bump up way too high in his face.
This is M4 wearing a Vss'd version of Jepe's Rodan texture with my facial settings. The VSS settings are set to give him a "moist" look. The hair is a VSS'd version of Neftis' Billyhawk Hair using my own "orange" colored textures - meaning, I adjusted the color of Neftis' original textures.
I made no adjustments to BB's P8 Soft Studio light PZ3 except the settings. Which I forgot to snap a photo of before setting Poser off on it's next render.
Because of the hair and the settings I used, this took 2 hours to render on my 3Ghz Mac Pro Quad-core with 6GBs or RAM.
After reading the remaining 5 pages of the thread, I tweaked the settings and started rendering again. Unfortunately, I'm about to leave for the weekend so I won't see the results until late Monday night.
I'll post again then.
BTW, once again, THANK you BB!

Well, first off, thank you all for popping my bubble. I thought I had a good thing going.
And, if dynamic hair is that which is made in the Hair Room, then I'll pick transmapped any day.
Besides, transmapped hair is hardly a challenge for my Quadcore Mac Pro8-P

I've attached a sample in the works. On the left we see the original shader that comes with Valea's Diamond Hair.
On the right is the diamond hair with BB's Hair shader (Beta)
The difference is quite subtle since Valea did a great job with it. But the VSS Hair shader added a few subtle touches that brings the realism a little closer.
Thank you, Bagginsbill!

Quote - bagginsbill what would be the easiest wayto make a specific VSS prop only for apollo maximus...
I got this one BB.
My horse sample on page 27 gives all the instructions to "design" for a specific model, or material zone.

Page 47 of this thread contains all the settings BB gave for regular sweat. I've used them many times and they look fine. They worked well enough for my attached shower scene.

That looks much better than what I'm getting so far.
Have you tested highlights by moving the camera at different angles? Some of my side angle highlights don't look as good as straight-on or quarter turn angles.

Well that cleared it up :-o
Although I know how to add, subtract, divide and multiply, translating these functions into the Poser Material Room is still a little beyond my reach.
Here's how I interpret your instructions:
Okay I need to use a Color_math node in order to keep the color, but the values only accept colors and not numbers.
And that's as far as I get. I have no idea how to assign "numbers" to them.
If you guys don't want to give the answer away because you think I'm smart enough to figure it out for myself then I've got bad news for you: although I am a smart person, my brain does not work in the "brainiac" mode that your's does.
Once the instructions are spelled out to me or if I see it visually then I can reverse-technology and make sense of it. I don't have enough knowledge about all the nodes and their functions in order to think my way through this puzzle from the beginning.
Yet.
But thanks for trying anyway.
