Nice, happy for you Stan :) Yeah 1TB is the minimum with all the content I've managed to accumulate, and even then I have to be choosy about what I install, so I understand the conundrum.
Thread: anyone interested in exactly why G3 and G8 crash carrara? | Forum: Carrara
I can get Genesis3 in without crashing, but so far G8F does make Carrara crash, sadly. I'm very interested to know, so here's my vote too.

Can't wait to try this out, I hope it is released soon :) (I use Poser, but Carrara is my primary app, highly anticipating pulling this tool into my workflow :) )
Don't care if it's on Renderosity or VirtualWorldDynamics site, either way I will be buying, and the price seems very fair.
Thread: Stonemason goes to China without me! | Forum: Carrara
A lot of times the DUF files load fine for me in Carrara8.5, I don't have this set though so can't test it, but maybe will pick it up to give it a try...
In the meantime I just loaded up Stonemason's Contemporary Living scene which I added as a .duf Studio file to my 'My Daz Library' folder, just to test the theory. It loaded into Carrara fine, and I did a quick Octane render of the scene 'as is' without changing a single texture except to make the ceiling lights octane emitters. Seemed to work great for me, not sure why the Chinatown scene would be any different, but now that I'm curious I might have to pick it up and give it a try.
Sidenote: Duf textures and the texture translations of Studio textures into Carrara seem pretty good, right off the bat. I loathe Studio and up til now have loaded everything into Carrara usually from Poser, but the textures always require lots of changing. I think I could get away with duf version textures without much change.
...of course, being a Carrarist, I would still have to tinker with textures as that's now part of my nature :) But it is interesting to see that Studio textures apparently translate much better than Poser textures.

Well, I was hoping to export the trees and vegetation, to render in Cycles. Cycles is probably a more powerful render engine, and I think the results will appear more realistic. I know this stuff is meant to be done in Carrara, like making forrests and stuff, but I was thinking to use the instancing with Cycles to get the same kind of duplication. I was hoping I wouldn't have to render very much in Carrara, but for outdoor stuff, I might have to.
Edit to say, I really like this plant editor, but I can see exporting this stuff might e a problem.
Carrara's renderer is one of the best biased render engines I've seen, but if you prefer the realism of an unbiased render engine than Cycles is going to be preferable. However do bear in mind that Carrara has unbiased render options too, including Luxus and Luxcore (Luxcore is currently free in beta, check out the Daz.com Carrara forums to pick it up and give it a whirl) and of course Octane for Carrara, which is truly excellent in terms of speed and realism (and also can render Carrara hair).
You can certainly turn a Carrara tree into a real object that can be exported, but it's going to be very memory heavy and though Carrara has no trouble at all handling tons of trees, replicated into thousands more, I think most other apps would choke because they will handle them differently than Carrara does.

****@ Carrara users : I started looking at ways to export a MDD file. I think this should not be a worry.

Awesome! Thank you very much :)
Thread: Spend Money at Daz? Don't want to see Carrara dumped? Read this please. | Forum: Carrara
"There is a difference between app sales and content sales. I am focusing on content. If Carrara content sold more, there would be more people making for it and it would be supported more."
The whole point is that Carrara users don't only purchase 'Carrara' specific content. Carrara natively uses 99% of Poser and Studio content as well. Yes, there is also Carrara-only content (like Howie Farke's nature scenes which are so reknowned), but for the average Carrara user the vast majority of content we purchase is content made for use in Studio or in Poser.
Would it surprise you to learn that I've purchased several products from your Daz store, yet I never ever ever use Studio for anything? This is because Carrara can natively use both Genesis1 and Genesis2 (although most of the stuff I've bought from you were shaping morphs for Genesis1, if I start using Genesis2 more seriously then I might very well purchase stuff like Shape Shift and Growing up and Aging morphs for G2m and G2f.
But you know what's never ever going to be on the menu for me if Daz doesn't take the time to make Genesis3 compatible with Carrara? Any product you make that is for Genesis3.
Yes, Carrara as an application does cost money, and yes Daz does make some money from each Carrara 8.5 sale, (which is more than the $0 that Daz makes from those who use Studio), but this is a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of money I spend on content. I went ahead and totaled it up, and it made me vaguely sick to my stomach to realize how much money I've spent at Daz over the last few years since I started doing this hobby ( $5,931.22 USD for me at the Daz site, and I know I've spent much more than that here at Rendo as I purchase from Rendo much more frequently). And yet according to the statistics that are appearing over in that thread, I don't have nearly as much content purchases as many of the other Carrara users; I'm not an anomaly, in fact many Carrara users spend more than I do on content.
The whole point is to make sure Daz understands that Carrara users do buy content, a lot of it, and not simply Carrara-specific content only. For a Carrara user, Daz makes money from a) the Carrara application sale, b) any Carrara-specific content we might buy, and c) the massive amount of Poser and Studio content we purchase and use in Carrara. We're trying to shine a statistical spotlight on the fact that c) is the largest by far segment of our spending.

I find I've spent far, far more money at Rendo than I have at Daz. I'm not sure how I can view how many items I've purchased but I have 191 orders and most of the time I tend to purchase 5 - 10 items per order.
They have good content here at Rendo for M4/V4, which is still my main goto figure, and the sales here are decent too (and I can understand the sales here, as opposed to Daz, where I need a tax attorney and an astrologer to figure out how many of X I have to purchase before I get Y number of 'special points' to apply to my super-duper punchcard and while hopping on one foot on the 2nd Tuesday if I add it to the cart just right... etc etc etc)

Looks excellent, and that's an excellent price you're considering too (which I also would be happy to pay). I'm hoping I can use this with Poser and then export to Carrara to assemble and render the final scene. Really good work, and very glad this is something that will be brought to market.
In fact, it looks so good, that I can't help wondering what keeps you from going to market sooner? Nevertheless, whenever it comes out, I'll be looking for it and will be a happy customer. :)

lol I can hear Austin Powers saying "It's a man, baby!" He does look awfully strange. This is one of those render ideas that didn't work out at all the way I envisioned, and really didn't work very well period, sadly. Probably a real stretch to try to throw it into an 'Incongruity' theme, but I thought maybe the fantasy vs. sci-fi might loosely fit and I had nothing else lying around. I'm never quick enough off the blocks thinking of a new idea that might fit one of these challenges, then maybe 2 weeks later I'll get an idea but the challenge is done and onto the next one, so I thought I'd throw this into the mix just to be able to say I finally participated at least once :)

Wow, I remember that exchange, it actually made me chuckle when I read it because I was like "Evil nailed it, that guy sounds like ManStan.." but I never dreamed it was actually him! Small universe we live in, lol.

Wonga, thank you for sharing your render settings, that's a very good NPR render effect, I actually thought at first it was a drawing :)
De3an, really love yours, great rain scene, puddles are a very nice touch.
Mark, that's great, totally forgot about that song, but that actually fits (kind of a scarier version though)
Dudu, yours is very funny, made me chuckle, well done. I haven't heard of that song before, but the render is just great.
