Thread: need a little help, if you can :) | Forum: Poser Technical
the workings of the hip switch is one of the unsolved riddles/mysteries in the known universe - hehe
as to geom channels, use unique internal names and switch ids as they all get recorded in the runtime pz3ย (registry) at first usage - truly legacy poser
a good idea would be to back up your runtime pz3, and restore it only when all is 'lovey dovey'

First, sorry for empty post and long delay .
Second, got nurbed and neutered by overย hundredย megabytes of pure unadulterated malicious mesh .
But did learn a few things along the way . Please let me share - hehe .
Monster ****head mesh make small to medium system (like mine) unstable .
UV Mapper and Poser can strip monster mesh, leaving monster ****head intact .
Mastering of monster curves; mothering of monster meshes .
If confused, just try Hexagon .
Happy rendering . hehe .
Query was: ...

errh, there's aย e-mail fileย size limit on my account - 200 or 500 kb I think . sorry
looked up my p5 geometries - even mannikin is more than 200 kb; female stick is 24 kb, but got no fingers .
make a box version for the jointing - you'd probably sleep better; ie until you have to do the morfs . hehe
Thread: Need help/advice creating an orignial figure Cr2 | Forum: Poser Technical
neckย - the Y twist and smooths should not reach the face .
collars - warning ... axis change - requires hand recoding twist info (with chest and neck)ย - becuz phi converter incapable; same with shin and feet .ย also centerย collar near chest (notย at shoulder) to emulate collar bone action
eyes - no jointing fk-ik info; and propagate head scales to eyes .
buttocks -ย thigh axis should reach to, and approximate the start ofย buttocks and sphere's shouldย cover both thigh and buttocks .
knees - no spheres
feetย - parent to shin, inky/non inkyย to universe -ย for end of ik chain ; same with hands
ย
double or triple jointed neck, multi jointed trunk,ย horns, ย tails, wings, 6 arms, 12 webbed fingers, whatever ย ..ย . attach a decimated version, or a stick figure (with materials) , I'll see what I can do; jestย give me copyrightย ownership of the jointing info, and post a nude renderย . hehe
Thread: help needed rigging | Forum: Poser Technical
just leave a decimated or simplified version of box objects, with grouping info someplace I can upload, (attach a file - gzipping is ok by me),ย or post it to me at jpeterkrishnan@netscape.net .
i'll give it a shot . I'm quite free for now . I'll attach back the cr2 at no cost .

Thread: HR2 MAT files no longer work | Forum: Poser Technical
Prop (or hair) files loaded onto figures are input as props . When these figures are saved, the prop is converted to an actor ie as part of the figure . The mat file can be coded to input to a figure (actor) or a prop . Mostly, it is coded for actors, in which case the 'prop' has to come from a CR2 file .
Thread: poser 6 user seaching for a new video card(PC)..Ati or Nvidia? | Forum: Poser Technical
I was under the impression Poser doesn't use hardware acceleration . IMO, the cards are overkill . Better to up your RAM to 4 GB instead . If I play 3D games, I'd go for NVidia . I got a old Radeon which required driver update to work for some games . I also understand games are tested with NVidia first and Radeon second . If I watched movies, I'd go for the Radeon . I'm salivating from looking at the specs . Someone please get me a towel .

Don't convert the obj geometries ! I think obj converts to .obz - I've only got Poser 5 so I'm not sure . The obj references in the Poser library files will not find a .obz file . PZ2s, if thy're not referenced by cr2 files . Daz offer addons in pz2 format for morfs and materials . Sometimes their original cr2s reference these pz2s . If they do, you won't get the addon directly from cr2 . You will just have to manually inject them with the pz2 Pose - which may or may not be a hassle .

You can get the gzip (gzip.exe) command line utility from the gzip home page . Thanks to Mark Adler and Jean-loup Gailly . http://www.gzip.org/ You could then try this ... ECHO OFF FOR %%f IN (C:folder*.cr2) DO C:foldergzip.exe -l %%f SUF .crz %%f > C:foldergzipFileInfo.txt FOR %%f IN (C:folder*.pz2) DO C:foldergzip.exe -l %%f SUF .p2z %%f >> C:foldergzipFileInfo.txt ECHO ON copy into notepad, rename as gzip.bat, and double click it . it basically looks for cr2 files in C:folder, converts them, using gzip.exe in C:folder into crz files . -l switch lists the info and > prints the stdout (screen output) to gzipFileInfo.txt . And does the same for the pz2 files, except >> appends the .pz2 info to the same text file . More on MSDOS batch file commands at - http://www.cs.ntu.edu.au/homepages/bea/home/subjects/ith305/description.html he he - just don't zip up your entire disk drive by accident .
