For the Carrara animations I create for our company training DVDs I render to the 720p size
and then when I edit it in the final video it's squezed to 720x480.
I like to render frames in the photoshop format for the great alpha channel
Thread: Making money off 3D design work... | Forum: Carrara
I work at a division of one of the best known corps in the world (the one that starts with a K).
We make a group of products that is entirely unique from the rest of the company, so we do a lot of our own training media in house, training seen by field service and customers.
Our product designs are done in Solidworks and I transform the SW files to a format that Carrara can animate.
Solidworks can make animations the same way that windows “Draw” can compete with Photoshop.
I tend to render the anims as frames and usually do some further editing in After Effects and or Vegas (the best video editing software “period”).
I’m also the goto guy for all things video.
About 75% of my output is done in C6 Pro.
I have animation being used world wide and some playing at an international trade show (IPEX).
The stuff at IPEX is used on marketing videos, my part is only about 10 seconds worth but the rest probably cost 50k plus to produce and took a team do while my part I did in 8 hours at my desk all by my lonesome.
I must admit apart from making about 12k less than I should I have a cool dream job.

The shader looks pretty cool.
I need to animate it
I've got the partical system to a pont where I can animate a jet of liquid with the droplets breaking off pretty close to real life but I want a drop that imapacts a still body of liquid.

Looks like I may figured it out
I'd played around with the spline modeler and noticed that it did what you said with the uv mapping.
Part of the problem is the path is very complex and, web of paper moving through dozens of convoluted twist and turns.
So I needed to be able to use an image of the roller layout to match the paper path., Vertex modeler does it, spline don’t.
**The fix: Use Abode Illustrator to layout the path on a image layer and import the AI file into the spline modeler. **

Thats close to what I'm looking for, I have the wonderfull Sparrowhawk plugin, I'll need to do little X-spera-mentin to make it work.

If it were only for weenie consumption I'd draw some stick figures in a power point.
But this is for field engineers and trainers.

I use a kind of round about way to inport our companie's 3d assets out of solidworks.
Output the soildworks assm as a VRML model. Then convert in deep explorer to 3Ds.

The alpha channel animation is kinda working but it leaves gaps as it progresses thru the rollers. It may be due to being a single surface object.
I'm a retard when it comes to UV mapping, any tuts you know of?
