Hi Valerie,
There seems to be more than one way to do this. Please let me know how you get on.

Thread: Importing Materials into Vue 4.2 | Forum: Vue
Hi Paul,
Had bother downloading Meshlab and UVMapper didn't seem to work for me, however, Accutrans 3D worked straight out of the box. It's great to finally be able to import fully textured models into Vue!
I think I'll need to play around with the settings a bit though as I seemed to lose a bit of resolution between CB Modeler Pro and Accutrans 3D.
This is a major step forward. Thanks VERY much for the advice.
Cheers,
Kevin

Hi Paul,
That's a great detailed response! I'll try it at the weekend. Thanks very much.

Thanks to this thread I've now got a functioning version of Icarus 2.09 and have used it successfully for panoramas and video stabilisation. Still getting some problems from the moving object removal from video function though.
I'm wondering if anyone knows of any Icarus User groups or discussion forums out there? Tried searching but no joy.
Cheers,
Kevin

Slightly off topic but maybe you'd like to comment dvdcdr. I found one of the great side benefits of Icarus was that you could end up with a terrific panorama image using a panned video shot. It would remove people that were moving across the shot which is often a problem with the "traditional" way of taking multiple photos and stitching them.
The trouble is that my early version of Icarus was from a cover CD. It worked fine until I updated Windows Media Player and now its defunct. Won't import a movie clip.
Do you know if Icarus is still available in a modern form compatable with Windows XP and modern Windows media player etc?

Thanks LordWexford and Samhain74. I've decided to buy the mag and see what happens! I think the Blue Marble data may be on the CD but could be wrong. Also I'll have a look for that World Machine program. I'm really just looking for some short cuts for producing terrains of real life landscapes. Say you wanted to do a virtual fly through of the Grand Canyon or something like that. Thanks, Kevin

Hi Bounzer, I checked out your earth picture and it's great. Did you just use the Blue Marble data as an Alpha plane or was that a complete 3D sphere? Hi war2, I knew about WW being a free download but it looks like a big file and this takes ages on my dial up connection. What I was looking for was a set of relief maps that I could make grey-scale and then import them into Vue to use as terrains. Is there maybe something else you all know about like that Blue Marble say, that can do that? Thanks, Kevin

The download version of Vue4 is definately good value for money but you better have broadband as it took me about 8 hours to download on a dial up connection! You get everything that would be on the CD except sample scenes and objects. Fortunately for me I had a lot of stuff already from Vue 3.1. If you still feel you need more, you can download the extra content which would give you all the scenes and objects for another 20 pounds but this is a whopping 433 MBs! That's a lot even with broadband.
Thread: Vue 3 Water and query on Windows 98 | Forum: Vue
I just recently upgraded from 3.1 to 4 and I have to say that the water is MUCH better in Vue4. With 3.1 the water was always flat. No sign of even small waves. In Vue4 it seems to automatically apply slight waviness to the water which is usually the type of effect you are looking for. Vue4 has a lot of other advantages too including easier terrain editing and stable animation.

Hi Folks, I tried the method suggested by yggdrasil and it worked a treat! Thanks very much.
