Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 13 6:58 am)
The transition from Vue 3 to Vue 4 is absolutely worth it (especially now with the reduced price of the download version)! Volumetric atmospheres, direct poser support, much improved render quality and just overall a lot better functionality and support for various model formats and texturing (I know I'm leaving stuff out but those are the major things I can think of at the moment). You will notice an amazing difference (at least I did) between the renders from Vue 3 and from Vue 4. I unfortunately can't say much on the animation side as I am just now starting to get more into the animation side of things with Vue 4 Pro, but you only really need mover to translate poser animations, I find the animation tools to be just fine without it. I'd have to agree with wabe too, download the demo and see what there is for you. Personally I've never looked back, which is something I can't say yet on the transition from Vue 4 to Vue 5.
Thanks Wabe and Nanotyrannus. I've got a demo copy of Vue4 Pro and was trying it out last night. I'm really keen on the terrain editor which works in 3D. This is much more intuitive than the 2D version in Vue3. I just can't visualise this properly when I'm trying to sculpt terrains. This feature is in the standard version of Vue4 and is what appeals to me most at the moment. Kevin

I'm currently using Vue 3.1 and am thinking of getting Vue 4 as there is a good deal on the downloaded version at the moment (35 pounds). Those of you who have gone from 3.1 to 4, what were the main benefits you saw? I particulary like playing with animation but have found 3.1 to be unstable with a lot of crashing. Have you noticed 4 to be more stable? Is the animation in 4 adequate or should I be thinking about Mover as well? Thanks, Kevin
