Thank you Jura for your insight and helpful image links. In the daz obj export options I take it you also check the "collect maps" option to have all the textures in one file location for easy import into poser? Any way, like I said I just have to get into experimenting myself, your help has given me hope of some success Cheers

I can see a workflow happening here-build a scene or character in daz-export as obj-tweak materials in poser and then save tweaked materials in a poser material library file- every time I import a variant of said scene or character I just re apply materials without too much effort I hope. I also use the octane render for poser plug in and use a lot of octane live data base shaders any way. looks like I have a bit of experimenting to do-Thanks adzan, your post has given me a little hope cheers

I don't expect to pose or tweak figures from daz in poser, just import some into poser as obj and render in the million tonne of scenes I have already built in poser for my massive sci fi graphic novel project, I don't really want to rebuild everything in daz (including my characters) just to use some "daz only" content. It is just getting frustrating that many daz vendors and daz themselves are not offering enough content in dual format, daz and poser as they used to. Forget about genesis for a sec-there are a lot of scenes and props that I would have spent my money on if they could be used in poser. I just thought obj export may have been a reasonable work around. Maybe I will just have try this for my self-after all daz studio is free and I will have some content that will load into it without any initial outlay from my budget. cheers

I've had mixed results with DSon and it does not cover all the figures, scenes and props that could be used. Does it work with poser11 pro?
Thread: Poser 11 Sneak Peek | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello all,
Here are my favourite things not in order: Air(breathing) Food (See food and eat it diet) Beer (See Beer and drink it diet)  POSER! (I think this would be No 1 !!!) been using it since version 4 (posette is still cute!)
I am waiting patiently for the new version ( a Pro user) and appreciate the sneak peek, it looks excitingly promising. I have been saving for a system that would run the octane plug in with justice, but maybe don't need to go that high anymore, anyway, new system budget will come in about the time new Poser arrives (no date yet, but that is my budget)
Saved at least five hundred lately as DAZ models recently are not POSER usable anymore that I can tell, so the money is put into savings for new system and new POSER .Plus this has inspired to learn some modelling for myself and I also love to "kit bash" a lot of content to the nth degree to get the look I am after. New system,New POSER.....have I stopped drooling yet?
I hope superfly will be as quick as firefly, I have my scenes and settings tweeked to be as fast as possible, that is why I originally want to go with octane, as my experiments with it were awesome, just did not have a NVidia card to do appropriately sized and detailed images-texture adjustments were easy, that is why octane is a benchmark for me personally, I look at many artists work with iray and vray and such, and find them ( the rendering engines that is) not quite there. Reality(luxrender) is very user friendly and good results, but way to slow for my requirements(hopefully its coming update will change this) . Firefly is still very usable, I am very influenced by the work of Erogenisis on deviantart and renderotica, the most realistic renders out of firefly ever I would say, it just comes down to a lot of work on materials and lighting. To paraphrase his own words about new Poser, I would feel like a god with PBR rendering integrated into the Poser workflow.Â
Sorry I had a little DAZ bash, but given the current circumstances I had to say it.(just my opinion, don't reply or loose sleep over it). Maybe Smith Micro are building full Daz usability into this new version-it would make marketing(dollars) sense for both companies to work together on this. I believe this would be beneficial for them, and all content creators, and the positive flow on to this is happy artists and customers like us, there  is no need to split the market in half.
Thank you Smith Micro for a great program and I am sure it will get ever better, I am patient like I said, but a few more sneek peeks would be nice, pretty please.....
Cheers

I am saving for a machine to do octane justice and thought vue2015 looked like a useful in between solution but no, I feel ripped off.

They should ask the vendor why the package was not what the advertised images showed and asked them to offer them as separate models or to explain to me how to separate them-I cant see them as grouped-just one chunk.I said I'd ask for a refund if there was no solution or explanation to this problem.

just got the bums rush from smith micro/content paradise on a similar topic-
the advertised product said 16 sci fi buildings in max and obj format suitable for poser and vue etc but i got the download and the obj is only one ground plane with the structures on it, not in a very usable layout and not separate buildings. I asked them to investigate why the download was not what seemed to be advertised but only got a "fill out the refund form like we told you to" or #$%^ off attitude so i understand the rock and a hard place vendors and buyers are in-you cant please all of the people all of the time
Thread: Some questions I have about Reality 3.0 - Anybody? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yeah, the response was good and left me of the same opinion as you, I stick with poser pro2012 for now and when i have time experiment further with octane as i have already purchased it.
thanks everyone for your time and advice
cheers
Thread: Some questions I have about Reality 3.0 - Anybody? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Very valid questions, I was about to ask basically the same ones, plus how does it compare to octane render(stand alone and plug in to poser),I have basically given up on octane because of the extra time it takes to re-edit textures and plus my graphics card runs out of memory.Plus, what is its speed like, i dont want to wait 20 hours for a nice a4 sized shot, about 20 minutes is about where i run out of patience-poser firefly does the trick for me, so can reality/lux do this in a similar time frame?
