Thread: Conan O'brian? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Eh, needs some teeth and that little "spit curl" thing. Looks like he's passing a kidney stone or something. Is it a new model or is it based on the Poser Dork? If it's new, then great work!
Thread: Linux? X Windows? | Forum: Poser Technical
I think BeOS would be a good choice for the old Meta products as it IS geared toward graphics, even more so than the Mac, I don't use BeOS, because my graphics card isn't supported, damn cirrus logic chips... anyhoo, but even in the crappy black and white mode, I opened up a few pics that would have taken me at least 30 seconds to a minute to open and they opened instantly. Besides, BeOS is free, it can co-habitate with Windows, you can import all your graphics and such. Granted Linux is more powerful, but at least BeOS is easier to configure, run setup, fill in a few things and you are on your way. Plus you don't have to screw with partitions. Of course you have to live with only 500megs for native be stuff, but if you mount the windows partition, then you have all the space you need. Be cool if Curious Labs did a BeOS port...maybe even included BeOS with the product...

Who can make sun rise...sprinkle it in dew...and hit you in error messages...the Poser Dork...the Poser Dork can!
Thread: Bbay and renderosity...when? | Forum: Community Center
Just remember guys, let's not make EVERYTHING for sale, if you catch my drift. I mean, I know some artists need a little cash, and renderosity needs it too, but I like my Free Stuff area, especially since I don't have much cash to pony up for a certain model or figure, or prop....

Doesn't it seem like Vicki uses the same grouping and such as the EveOlution model? But the increased polys would be great in eve, a "poor man's" Vickie, so to speak. Just please...make her free!

Thread: Passing this Along: Corel got Brycs, KPT and Painter | Forum: Community Center
Look at it this way, Bryce has a huuuge fan following, plus Corel has been the "cheaper Adobe" for a while . I own Corel Draw 6 and 8, and I think PhotoPaint is far superior to PhotoShop. And with Painter and Bryce added to the Mix, Corel Draw 10 should kick arse. Also, think about it, Corel needs a shot in the arm. Before we sound any death knells for Bryce, let's give it a shot. Buy the next Corel Bryce 5 and show them that it won't die like Xara. Nick Noel
Thread: New Section in Poser Free Stuff.... | Forum: Community Center
Is there anyway the P3 and P4 sections be made anyway? I think it would help new users, who barely know how use morph targets, and make it easier for us pros to get the morphs we need without trying to figure out what is what. Some people are nice enough to put P3 or P4, but some aren't. Or even with Textures, I have had quite a few times where I thought a texture would be perfect, then had to chuck it because it was the wrong format for the model I needed it for. Could help.
Thread: MetaCreations update | Forum: Community Center
Well, Ghost Effects (Larry Weinburg, creator of Poser) has been really good about releasing patches, and I think Larry and the crew have a few things up their sleeves, and if Zygote did buy Poser, then those things could be a reality. I know he was talking about a plugin SDK that was orginally made so Bryce could work with Poser. And think about it, Vickie might be the new default Poser gal, P5 might be more expensive, but if they chuck the old "Lo-Res" versions of the characters, make some more clothes, give us a built in 3D painter (it's just such a pain to have to switch between two apps to get a texture to look just right, I want to be able to do those touchups in Poser) and Zygote markets it aggressivly enough it could be the defacto character animation program out there. Although part of me wants McNeel to get it or Nichiman, it would be nice to have Nurbs support too.
Thread: Join the Empire: The Anit-Millie/Victoria Resistance. Viva la Resistance! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I wish they would have made her more resonably priced. 60 bucks is kinda much to pay for a new model. I can see them charging that if they gave her morphs and a T-Map. I mean they should have released her as a freebie, or dirt cheapy, and then sell her with the morphs, hair, T-map, and maybe some clothing for the 100. Like they did the Tess model, or the CompuGuy. Even if she's free for a week. That'd be nice. Nick

Hokey Smokes Bullwinkle! Is that real or Poser? Looks great man, boy I need to start saving my pennies and buy her. That just blows the old P4 woman a way. Especially the last one, I WANT HER!!!!
Thread: Poser figures spotted in commercial games | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Oh yeah, have Hit Man Harry come and date a Sims girlfriend! Now I gotta pick me up that game! I was reading a gaming mag last week and saw that used Poser for quite a bit of a PCvsConsole article. They used the default Casual Boy with conformed clothes. Heck I even saw Poser 3 figures in an instore flyer at Sears (probably done in house) and even on TV. Poser or at least Zygote is really gettin' around!
Thread: My PII is faster than my new G4!!! Why? | Forum: Poser Technical
Thank you "Mr.Mac"(I have a similar nickname, MacMan!) But you finally proved that "PCs Rule, Macs Drool!" But I digress, Macs are okay machines, but I have seen and heard enough people complain about thier macs as I have seen and heard people p&moan about the PCs. But Mr.Mac has a point. The speed they claim is in Photoshop, Quark, and Claris products like Filemaker, but DUH! They are programs that were originally made for Mac, not PC, so it makes sense they would work faster on the MACOS. But when it comes to just pure speed, PCs can beat a Mac, and for less money. Consider this, You can get a P3 650, 128-256MB ram, 17-20 gig hard drive, 56K Modem and NIC, DVD, CD-RW, plus a decent software bundle for under $2K. Less than the cost of a similarly equipped Mac. How much did you pay for your G4? 2K, 2500? Macs are nice, but the Bang for the Buck is much better for PCs, although PCs generally have low resale values, even after only a year or two, while Macs are worth slightly more. If you want a computer with Power to spare, get a PC, if you want a computer that you can resell for a nice price, and have a Candy colored box, get a Mac. Not trying to intice a Mac/PC war, just laying out facts. I mean, I own an older Mac, it's a Performa 6300. Only complaint is the modem is a 28.8, and I can't get the printer to work properly, and the display can only reach 256 colors. I even upgraded the OS from System 7.6.2, to Mac OS 8. And I put Softwindows 2.0 on it. But my trusty CTX 266Mhz AMD-K6, with 64MB RAM, and a 4.3 gig hard drive, renders fairly speedy, for a 400x400 pic I can do it in a couple of minutes, depending on the poly count of the object I am rendering. But comparing Macs and PCs is like comparing a Saturn to a Dodge. Both have thier good points and their bad points.
Thread: File Hosting Conglomeration? (Confederation?) | Forum: Community Center
Ahhh.... Duh! But then again, couldn't we all just pool our space and offer it to members. Y'know, 3DCC for Comic related things, Props Guild for props and the like, Poser World for fashions then have like a link to the respective sites, might be a bit more of a hassle, but it would bring people to the other sites as well. But then you have bandwidth fees. Although are there sites that offer unltd bandwidth? Where it wouldn't be that big a deal if thousands of people went there? Just a thought!
