Thread: Another Hot 20 thread :-) | Forum: Bryce
Yup. I make sure I get into the gallery and vote two-three times each week. Even if I can't take the time for comments, I make the time to vote now. Have fun.
Thread: Changes in my gallery! | Forum: Bryce
Really nice looking tags there Rudy. The resolution change is an even better move, in terms of protection. Especially in the case of you're work. The high degree of detail in your full size images is astounding. Without that full resolution, the images are still amazing to view, but the value to someone wishing to steal it is diminished. Just curious, did you find your work somewhere else ?? As you command ... it's back to Brycing for me.... Good luck. Have fun.

Here's two tutorials I wrote a while back for Bryce4:
Simulating Occlusions in Bryce
Make a Dome Light
Their pretty old now that Bryce5 is around, but they still work, and may even save some rendering time vs using the True Ambience settings.
At least they may give you some ideas to try.
Have fun.

Actually, it's not a "Mac thread" Check out Scott's first numbered "simple question answered". :) Have fun.
Thread: OT-Bummer News (My son) | Forum: Bryce
So sorry to hear he will be missing Christmas at home. I just wish there were some way I could express in words the degree of respect and gratitute a feel for poeple like your son that literally lay their heart, body and sole on the line for the protection of others. Best wishes for you, your son and your family for the holidays. Thank you.

Oh yeah.... (now that you got me started!) Render to image sequence with alpha channel (so you don't have to always make a seperate "Mask" render) Then in 6.5 or 7 (dare to dream) add the ability for the alpha to account for object transparency.) :) Have fun.

Camera & object Motion blur. VIDEO AS TEXTURES PLEASE !!!!!!! (just like images as textures, just using video files so the "image" changes with each frame. :) ) Interlaced animation rendering. (So I don't have to render full frames at 60fps then throw out half the data I waited for to interlace to 30fps for TV) Also, provide for adjustable bevels/chamfurs(sp?) on Bryce primitves. Looks & sounds fantastic !!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for picking up the torch! Have fun.
Thread: Bryce renders look... cheap (?) PART 2 ! | Forum: Bryce
While there were a few "I'm offended" responses, it seemed to me that majority of the responses in your first thread (where you could have posted you own respons by the way) directly answered your question and did not take offense in terms of believing you were critisizing anyone's work. You'll have to expect at least of few people to get offended. I mean, what do you think would happen if you went to a Harley Davidson rally and got on the PA system to ask "Don't you think the Suzuki and Yammaha street racing cycles like are a lot better than a Harley?" I'm guessing the response wouldn't nearly as pragmatic as what you got here ;) As far as price, I was just pointing out that while the other packages you mentioned were significantly more expensive than Bryce (you left out Renderman, XSI and Maya ;) ), Byrce is (for the most part) perfectly capable of rendering the same quality images. (which speaks directly to your question of "don't you think it looks like plastic compared to these others?") Have fun.

Mmmm. Vue: $200-$500 (Depending on version. Most of the "Full" $500 version features are in Bryce) Cinema4D: > $600 Max: $500-$2000 Brazil: (Render engine only) >$750 Bryce: $90 (full MSRP) You would HOPE that these other products were vastly superior and that Bryce couldn't even come close, right? As is proven in many Bryce galleries, the rendering engine is extremely capable of rendering photo real images. Like any artistic tool, it's all in the talent and skills of the artist. At least the some of those people that paid all that money for those other products save some time with faster renders, but the quailty is readily attainable with Bryce. Have fun. :)
Thread: Hot 20 | Forum: Bryce
Personally, I'm all for encouraging people to develop with by rating them according to their skill level and providing glowing and helpful comments. As far as I know, though, the only way votes are seen is when something makes it into the hot 20. Voting for some one doesn't really encourage them to develop further. It simply raises a "developing artists" work to be on display as "exemplary work". If anything, it could discourage further development, in that "Hey! This got me into the Hot20, I've pretty much got it down pat now!" Just MHO though. I think still think that everyone that has an issue (and really everyone in the community) should just go through the gallery and vote for the images that they feel truely do belong in a gallery that represents both the abilities and merits of this tool as well as the skills and talent in the community. Have fun!
Thread: New (to me) freeware graphic program - Gloodle | Forum: Bryce
FYI: just to clarify on ocddoug's comment...
That's not a model.
Gloodle is a 2D painting program with some really cool & fun tools. The brush works like an rapid-fire stamper tool, while a sorta kalidascope function repeats whate you're painting from several angles. It also records your motions and alows for shading (darkening) "older" stamps which is what gives that 3D-sh look seen in the attached image.
Definitly a really fun app, and could make for some reall amazing latice and terrain maps.
Have fun!

I think Creations suggestion is best. I mean, look, there are nearly three times as many posts here in this thread than there are votes for this image. Even the number one image has fewer votes than there are posts in this thread. If each and everyone of us went and found just twenty images more deserving of H20 reconision and submitted a vote, it would make it quite a bit more difficult for some one to "cheat" their way in. (If there is in fact multi-account use, it would at least force the person to go through the trouble of having to keep track of a lot more accounts just to stay afloat. >:] ) Anyway, I'm off to vote for some images. Have fun.
Thread: November/December Challenge News - Readme | Forum: Bryce
My vote is for Holiday. How about "Child's Gift". Can be a realism shot of a toy, a child receiving a gift, a child giving a gift, an adult preparing a gift, a child making a "super special gift" for some one they love. Gift could also be an emotion or a hug or other something subtle, intangable but heartfelt. Indoor/outdoor, any locale. Could be very interesting, esp. since everyone has extra time to work on this one. Just a thought. Have fun.
Thread: Help! Need Motion Blur!!! | Forum: Bryce
You need a video editing program that can do compositing based on a "gray key" mask and also has the motion blur effect. (Personally, I use Media Studio Pro) Render your animation in perspective mode and again in object mask mode, creating a mask for your ship. Add the perspective animation to your editor in two overlapping video tracks. Apply a traveling matte using the Object Mask render to one of these tracks. Now, depending on which is moving faster, (background or ship) you can apply a different degree of blur to the the two tracks, so the faster objects are blurred more. Post back with the name of the video software you use and perhaps there will be people that can share more detailed instructions. Have fun.
