Thread: PoserPros site stability problems?! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just a follow-up to my original post... Checking that little box under the login prompt ("Log me on automatically each visit") seems to have alleviated my constant log-off problem. After checking this box, I was able to stay on long enough to shop, buy and download my purchases. As for my computer settings, I'm currently using the library computer lab across from my apartment...it's a Windows XP network, but I don't tinker with any of the browser settings. PoserPros is the only site I've encountered troubles with, so they should get with standard network/browser specs.
Thread: Direct linking Bah Bah FreeBee going away soon..... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think BW means that someone else may have linked to his site without authorization...or just created a direct hyperlink to the download offered on his site, thereby allowing others to download HIS freebie from THEIR site... You know, as if they were hosting HIS freebie on THEIR site (as you probably know, many vendors offer freebies on their sites as a means of driving traffic to them). Anyway, thanks for the freebie BartWorx, looks cool...and I hope your site reconstruction goes well!

This looks real cool...I like the pins or dowels that hold the handle/grips together...very realistic. The handle's wood-grain texture sets off nicely against the "brushed" metal of it's top and bottom pieces. Very cool.

Does anyone know whether the Unimesh Realism Kit will work on the backwards compatible "V3 to V2 Cr2 and OBJ" and "M3 to M2 Cr2 and OBJ"...I understand these figures are a hybrid of sorts (utilizing V3 and M3's heads atop their respective gen-2 bodies). I'm guessing not, but wondering whether anyone has tried. Thanks, pdog

Yeah, sounds like a utility recommendation-request, rather than an application querie...and for that, Microcosm would seem to be the logical choice (seeing as it has so many expansion options available). However, if you WERE willing to venture a new interface, then consider Bryce 5.5 (at half-off the regular price). DAZ has been steadily increasing the interoperability of Poser/DAZstudio and Bryce...great terrains, water, skies, etc. AND a fabulous little rendering engine (if somewhat slow).
Thread: James - free and commercial products? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The Thomas texture package to which Mariner refers is absolutely great looking (almost too photoreal to render or comp alongside any other textures available for James)...Thomas would be a complete slam-dunk package if it included a clean/shaven head texture to go with the stubble default head texture. He seems to have a permanent 8 o'clock shadow going;)

Though not just yet appearing on the newsrack, my local (Arlington, VA) Barnes & Noble outlet tells me they're seeing this new title in their database! Cool. The info-desk staff tell me this usually means B & N will be stocking it after the order snails through it's distribution/warehouse pipeline. Anyway, your local B & N should also be a pretty safe bet ;) Cheers, michael

Yes, they're quite nice looking. It's a straight-forward, modern-esque frame design, probably more commonly found on a smaller scale (relative to the included figure). Thanks in Advance, michael

Thread: Latest DAZ news big discounts? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I kinda view it as "loss-leader" strategy rather than "bargain basement". For instance, I'm definitely going to move on a DAZ Original I've been wanting: the "Captain's Uniform" for A3, at a deep discount, but then inevitably purchase renapd's "Around the Clock" texture set at full price...and perhaps even pay full-price for DAZ's Clothing Converter utility so that I can get V3 into it. DAZ is definitely pursuing a multi-prong model: 1) loss-leading where it makes sense (i.e. base models), 2) volume pricing where it makes sense (i.e. Platinum), and 3) getting early adopters to buy those truely exquisite creations at full-price. My take, michael

Stew/Pablo...for future reference, could someone clue me in on what "BM" stands for?! If I had to guess, I'd say "beats me". Anyone hip to this acronym? Please confirm. Thanks, michael

...I did also fire-off an inquiry to the folks at Future Publishing (in the U.K.). If and when they reply with a clarification, I'll post any info they provide.
