Hey, what gives? I checked out iw43d, and it looks like the same site as poserworks, except the prices are much higher.

Thanks to all of you. Good leads. I like the poserworks airplane cabin. Costs $55.00, but I guess it's worth it....

Really? I used to subscribe. Maybe I own it on one of my CDs. But I went to the Poserworld web-site and did a search and can't find it....
Thread: Why Aren't People Using Sasquatch For Hair?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Opera, thanks for the URL, that is an interesting example of the potential of Poser hair. Still, those of us who are fascinated with Poser often lose perspective, and become so excited by "the future promise" of its present capabilities, that we are more forgiving of its shortcomings. Clearly, the motion of the hair is what impresses in that movie, and not the quality of the hair itself, which is still artificial looking, as you've already pointed out. I am loyal to Poser, and will stick with it until it advances (hopefully) to the stage of offering hair that is as realistic as other programs are already providing. (I like the site that the movie is housed on. Are you the site-owner?)

operaguy, your point is well-taken. Even so, I've seen maybe one great hair effect in all the poser galleries here on Renderosity. If getting great hair results in Poser is even reasonably attainable, I would hope that there would be more examples in the galleries here, instead of countless uses of the same old Kozaburo wigs. I'm not putting down those users who take the easy way out--as I'm among them--I guess I'm wondering if I shouldn't learn Cinema Max, which, as maxxmodelz points out, does have a great hair plug in. I guess we're only limited by our own time and money (to buy the newest software!)

Deecey, thanks for your answer, but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick. Perhaps I'm not interpreting your instructions correctly. After clicking the info window off, I open General Preferences, then what?
Thread: Beauty Queen hair, any reviews? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am still of the opinion that hair should be photoshopped into the image during postwork, whether through painting (if you're talented) or else a cut and paste. There are no hair models that I've seen that don't detract from the final image. And the few hair models that come close to being "acceptable"--the Koz ones--tend to be so overused that they become cliche upon viewing them.
Thread: those creepy white looking nostrils | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is an incredibly helpful thread. Thanks to all who contributed to the conversation--I've bookmarked this as well. A minor note--does the texturing of the lips on this model seem a bit "off?" to you as a viewer? Is there a way to address that as well? Also, I still maintain (as I've said in prior posts) that greater asymmetry in the face would add yet another breath of life to this, or any other, model. Still, I love what the fix to shadows does to enhance this model.

Yes, the conclusion I've come to, after a full day of fiddling, is that it is best to Photoshop a reflective surface on the flat plate of glass. Thanks though, for helping me learn.

Mac, how come when I plug the reflection node into Alternate Diffuse, as you do above, I don't get background, quality, softness and ray bias settings, but only background, quality and softness?

And yes, I do have raytracing on.

I'm using the standard glass shader that comes in P5. I've also tried Ajax's shaders, also to no avail. Where is the full mirror shader you mention above? Maybe I should try that, and play with the transparency?

Momodot, the woman with the ample behind is Judy from my steamroom series, and that's good old mom at her side. This is the opening scene, the one in which they discover the new-fangled healthclub where men and women freely commingle in various stages of (gasp!) deshabille. Thanks all for your suggestions--Sam, I've downloaded the Ajax shaders, though I don't understand the science of it, it seems like he knows what he's doing so maybe plugging in some of his shaders will do the trick.
Thread: Why is my background pic disappearing when I render the scene? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks to all. I've resolved the issue thanks to your input. I was running Poser 5, and didn't have the proper box checked in the render options.
