Thread: Paid For Tech Support Program | Forum: Vue
Though I'm a pro, I don't understand the distinction you're trying to make between myself and the hobbyist. We all deserve a dependable piece of software. When it works its stunning, but I challenge the notion that anyone's making their daily bread off of Vue4 for Mac. I've lost too much time and money trying to figure out how to keep it happy.
Get your product smoothed out and we'll talk. I'm trying to keep the faith, but e-on's timing on this doesn't ring kosher. I'd rather hear how hard you're working to eliminate all the problems.

Thank you, Mark, for the info.
It's my first 3D app and a whole new paradigm. The bugs have only complicated the learning curve. But I'm starting to get the hang of it because of people like you.
This child has many fathers. When I give birth, I swear it will be displayed for them to claim or deny!

Thanks for the tips on the bitmap folder placement - I've gotten rid of those errors at last .
The constant quits remain, however. If I change the mapping or oversampling of the bitmap or - heaven help us, add a primitive or move the darn tower - nothing but fatal errors.
I'm not picking on French Kiss at all. I think most of this is the inherent instability of Vue4 for Mac. I remain breathless with relief that I didn't purchase Pro to start with, or I'd really be hacked.
Vue4 for Mac might be great for the talented (and determined) hobbyist, but it is a l-o-n-g way from being practical for someone on a production schedule. A 30-minute creation can take hours because of all the quits and lost data. Not to mention the constant tension you're under, WAITING for it to quit. I mean I've got backups of my backups - because even clicking on a Vue-generated .bak file creates an error.
However, if you can stand it, and you have the time, the results are astounding.
I'm done, now. :) Holly
Thread: Okay, I've beaten my head sufficiently...how to make a meandering stream? | Forum: Vue
Guys,
I am very new at this and you've all given me some terrific ways to create the river. Pics, even. I'll attempt to pass your kindness along when I become more proficient.
One problem remains - is there no way to "map" the river prior to going into the Terrain Editor, and having it show that map/guide when it pops up? There's no X-Y axis, no frame of reference of where to dig or build in relation to other things in the scene. Say it isn't so.
I could move it around in the main view until I got it where I wanted it, but this seems a crude and inefficient way to go about things. And, unfortunately, Vue4 for Mac does not like you to monkey around with land masses. It croaks every time - even with the update, and even without Open GL.
Thanks for any help.

Thread: What is this with VUE rocks causing crashes..aka my latest vent '-)!! | Forum: Vue
Me too, with the rocks! Vue 4 HATES ROCKS, I tell ya!
I'm on a state of the art Mac, great vid card, enough ram to send home to momma, and dual GIG of speed. I just did a clean wipe of the entire disk and a clean install of everything.
Rocks are e-on glitch. So were having multiple material windows open, but they finally fixed that. I also have probs with LARGE LAND MASSES...Vue 4 does not like you to move them, period.
But, it is a magnificent piece of software - when you can get it to work.
