Hope this isn't considered pic overload - but had these lying around after a trip to London in Easter this yr. Most of the above were trying to get a pic of Big Ben / Houses of Parliament. No cropping, Canon D30 / (old)100-300 5.6L pp

Might it be worth noting that this app is an uncrippled freebie on the current issue of Digit mag? (There's also a deal for UK / European readers to upgrade to 2.0 for 99) pp

<< ....and regarding wings, I tried it but didn't like the controls very much .....You don't need to click on any buttons because just about everything can be done with the keyboard.... >> The vast majority of tools (within Wings) can be assigned to hotkeys of the users' choice - the same hotkey can be used for the same command across all 4 selection modes (verts/edges/faces/objects) eg - it's then possible to have 5 keys for all (19) of the major move commands - and therefore not have to touch the menus :) (I also have a similar setup covering scale/extrude/extr region/rotate etc) Anyway, good luck - whatever you use :) pp

<< Still, it's nice to have both >> Yep, no argument:) It's always great to see a (real world) product that's 'just right' -imo. Elegant design, well made, works well, easy to use / maintain etc (not too many around these days) I suppose this is what we'd all like re wings - and I wouldn't argue - especially re user prefs for customising UI etc, because there's no way one UI will please everybody all the time :) I only made the comments I did because of the situation here - ie limited time /resources,(although it often doesn't seem that way!) and in this context I'd always like to see better / improved tools etc - rather than the reverse. There's also an interesting discussion re whether 'looking more professional/commercial - like the 'rest'' is good or bad? Job for the pub one night when it's catting 'n dogging? :) pp

<< I can't find the transparent option, where is it? >> Edit -> UI prefs -> Menu Bkgnd (say) -> A (Alpha) slider (adjust this) << then i like to just see my model so im wierd >> Well, there's at least 2 members of the 'weird club' :) Whilst it's great to be able to work in a 'comfortable' environment (check out 0.80 to see how much has improved) - it's surely the quality of what's being made (and the tools available) that's most important? Does painting the handle of your favourite carving chisel make you a better carver - or how you use it and how well the cutting edge is honed? Ask yourself the 'Bay' question - with the current Wings toolset, would he be able to make his usual quality of model? - or would he need a 'prettier / more pro 'looking' UI to do this? I suspect we all know the answer :) pp

Tweak - there's already a 'patch' available, which fixes the problem :) ppThread: modeller.....? | Forum: 3D Modeling
Previous (fully working) releases of Pixels3D are regularly put on the cover cds of mags in the uk (Digit/Macworld etc) - dunno what the latest freebie version is - maybe it'll say on their site? I've used a very old version on an ancient 7500/100 Pmac - very slow, but some interesting tools - the files also seemed to export fine into other things I was using at the time. Well worth investigating imo. I now use Wings (on a pc) and also suggest you should try this - totally different way of working to P3D - but excellent (imo) for modelling many types of objects - and very easy to pick up the workflow. pp
Thread: is your modeling camera set to the correct degree ? | Forum: 3D Modeling
I once posted some viewing angle figures for 35mm camera lenses (on the Wings forum) - but can't find them :) A 50mm 'standard' lens (one that used to come with the (SLR) camera - in previous days) has a (diagonal) viewing angle of 46 deg. This was supposed to give a view similar to that perceived by the eye. More recently, a 35mm lens has become more 'popular' - view angle for this is 63 deg. (Typical focal lengths for taking 'portraits' are 85mm - 100mm - with corresponding view angles of 28.5 and 24 deg respectively) Depending on what's being modelled, it might be worth messing around a bit? :) (Lens details from Canon EF series, btw) pp
