Okay, here's what I did and it seems to have worked - just in case someone out there somewhere, some day, has the same problem. Using Artweaver ( a free graphics program) I created a jpeg 1102x1502 (just plain white), then opened a poser window, imported the background, told Poser to match the background dimensions, and there you have it! Thanks for the inspiration, guys!

 Gremalkyn, I got the 2's - those figures - from a post here in the forum about rendering to Amazon/Kindle specs. Jura11, thanks for the suggestion, but what I'm trying to accomplish is to have a working screen that is exactly the same dimensions (ratio-wise) to my render output. For example, if I set up a scene in my current document window 1149x792, then used the method you suggest, I'll only be rendering some of what is in the document window I just set up. By the way, thanks for the picture; you know what they say about the ratio of pictures to words. I'm going to try the launch to factory state, see what happens.

 Yep, that's the one - Simple Details . Wonder why its not sold here anymore? maybe a moderator kicked the poor guy out. I did not realize weight mapping took care of things like faulty should joints. Is there a weight mapped M4?

 Okay, here's how I fixed it. I uninstalled and deleted everything. I downloaded Daz's downloader, let it put the V4 and M4 base in it's own file, which includes a runtime folder, then merged that runtime folder with mine. Now everything works fine. Thanks everyone!!! 

 Still looking for the original though, so I can fix M4.

 Okay, I've found those files in Runtime-Libraries-!DAZ folder. There is a V4, M4 and M4Genitals batch files, along with DZCreateExPFiles application. I'm going to try them and see if it works. Thanks!!!

 Hornet3D, I remembered the original initialise process, but it seems to be no longer applicable. There is not mention of it in the DAZ read me's, nor is there any to download.

Okay, got it. I am using the latest update available for P12. I am also using 3 computers, one to set up the scene, two others to render in Lux. The set-up machine is the oldest, cheapest, with just lots of storage, while the render comps are newer, more expensive multi-core machines. I think the problem is my set-up computer actually does fall below the minimum in graphics capability, in fact, I'm pretty sure it has no graphics card at all, uses something in the motherboard instead. But I will check. Thanks for informing me!

There are some excellent documentaries out there by Nobel prize winners discussing tapping geo-thermal energy and getting absolutely unlimited free engery It would end all poverty, all polution, all hunger. We just have to realize this system we are working under is rigged to benefiet a very, very small number of people.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions, but I figured it out. Under Display-Preview Drawing, you have a choice of Open GL or Sree-D Hardware. Apparently the default is Open, I needed to select Sree.

Jim, tried your suggestion but to no avail. The lights I am using are the Poser 2012 standard lights. I can move them anywhere, delete them, replace them with different lights and light sets, the red still remains.
