Hmm. Not bad looking. You aren't going to produce a similar version for M3? You might reach a larger audience with it... I'll check out Apollo Maximus.

Yeah, I've tried that. But, they just don't turn out the way I want. Especially the big male. I can't seem to get him to look strong without looking like a freak (he's not The Freak...) Still looking. Minako by Black Star may work for the female...

I think the main character had some sort of monkey or something like that. It was the art in the comic that actually opened the door for me to get into Bryce, which led to Poser, which led to Vue, which led to Lightwave6, and now Lightwave 9. It was actually quite entertaining. What was the name of that book...? Gush I wish I could remember it...

Nope, but that's a cool book! It was sort of surreal. It reminded me of battle chasers in a way. Lots of floating terrains with castles on them and such... fantasy-based, I believe...
Thread: What would it take to make Poser a "Professional" application? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You get more defensive with each and every posting. I think you should slow down and take a deep breath. I have used programs and then dumped them. But I won't dump Poser. I like it too much and I feel I have valuable imput. I'll just ask for better tools within it. I think you're mad because you don't want to adapt to change. I'll bet that if P7 comes out and it has a more professional interface (even something like Daz Studio) most people griping about the change initially would eventually see how much more control they have. All the while, you'll be complaining they changed your interface, how dare they! I'll bet developers for programs love to hear what the customers are asking for. I think change is just around the bend. You can either contribute ideas and desires and influence the change, or you can latch on to P6 or P5 or P1 if you like and use it for the rest of your career. Well, that's fine. You stay defensive and quote your poetry :) I'll keep asking for more impressive tools from Poser. I know it's capable of it. After all, if everyone was content with still images, animation probably wouldn't be a part of Poser right now, would it?

Carolly,
You're getting way too defensive here. I'm complaining because Poser is one of my favorite apps, always has been. I endure what a lot of the "professional level" people dish out because I use Poser, but I refuse to stop using it.
I do model and render in Lightwave. But there's this program that has 3D people already, maybe you've heard of it? And it's a time saver, and in a one-man shop, time really is money.
So, I'm complaining because I want it to be better. I want it to finally be able to do the things it's capable of. I don't see where asking for multiple undos should get you so defensive? Or why a change to the interface would do the same?
Either an application should be able to do it all, or be able to export to an app that can, otherwise, can it really be an asset to any professional user interested in the best quality with the lowest time?
Poser won't support particles, soft or hard body dynamics, realistic hair, etc. other apps can. However, getting Poser meshes into these other apps can be a real headache at times.
I've paid for several versions of Poser. I've used it and been mocked for using it for years. I think I've earned the right to some critisism and feedback. No, I can't program. The point of this thread is to bring to light things people really would like to see in Poser, and hopefully, some programmer will read this and try.
If that makes you so defensive, sorry. Feel free to stay out of this thread. Nobody is twisting your arm.

It seems like a lot of people are hung up on a term Professional. Professional has nothing to do with the amount you pay for a program, the classes you take, or the money you get paid for using an app. Take a look at V5 Infinite. They were going to call it professional, but let's not get hung up on names. We're talking about a program that's got some great radiosity, renders relaively quickly, seems stable, makes amazing use of instancing, integrates with other 3D apps, and costs $600.00, not $3000.00 plus classes. The workflow is ok (not the fastest, but not as muddled as Poser is). The point is, it's not the app, it's the artist that makes great works of art, HOWEVER, the app is the artist's tool, and if you have a styrofoam hammer, it might get the job done eventually, but there are better tools available. There's more to an app than price. Wings 3D is free, I believe. Blender was too, at least it used to be. What makes something professional is the results you acheive with it, and the efficiency of getting there. I can make a Poser render that looks like a photo, but if I can do the same thing with Lightwave in 1/10 the time, which is the professional app? (That's why I use Poser instead of Lightwave for 3D people, but still render in Lightwave.)

What I love about Poser is the ease of character creation and aniation. I can animate in Poser more easily than with any other application I've ever used. What I hate are the view ports. For example, in Lightwave (and most other apps) i have three buttons on the top right corner of any viewport. These let me zoom in, pan around, rotate, whatever, but more importantly, i can choose an object and make that object the center of my viewport. That means if I lose the object, I don't have to pan WAAAYYYY out just to find it again. Poser has real potential, and could be a majorly useful application. I mean, the renders aren't bad at all. The strand-based hair really sucks (sorry, I've never seen any that looked good) but the dynamics are great for clothes. With some soft body dynamics for boobs and such, some hard body dynamics for collisions, and either a particle system or particle effects, there would be a huge market demand for Poser. Sure, people have made some money with it already. But how many feature films use it to render? People (like myself) export the figures into programs with more depth and render there.

i love Poser for the people. I just don't have the time to model the characters i use. But it would be so uch faster to be able to place cameras easier. The renders actually look really good if you take the time for better settings. Getting something in the frame you want to render, THAT's the hard part.

That does help a little, but with this particular model, I can't even see the piece I'm moving. I just know the name. I'll try the shift thing. Thanks! What else? What would you change if you could program Poser?
Thread: Is there a RenderositY font? | Forum: Community Center
Say what? That doesn't ake any sense. A logo is a logo, doesn't matter if it's 3d or 1d. Hmmm...
Thread: Is there a RenderositY font? | Forum: Community Center
If someone out there actually owns the font, and has a program capable of 3D text (Lightwave and Vue 5 come to mind), maybe they could make a 3D Renderosity logo and give it away as a freebie for use in the contest? Thanks!
Thread: Is there a RenderositY font? | Forum: Community Center
Thanks! I'm interested in the contest for the Renderosity logo and I'm not content to use just an alpha map or texture of an image in a render, unless I have nothing else to use. Thanks!!
