Colin - that is an astute observation. Once they reach their arbitrary limit, I guess they expect everyone thereafter to go to the artist's page. So, I suppose they believe that we write down every artist name and image title we come across early on. I certainly don't do that. It would take forever. I sort of remember the page it's on, and then find things that way, as I described above. And if the limit is as you say, then it means that if you don't come back to the new images for a week or two, you'd never have a clue what was there because they're gone. Yet another reason to re-introduce the page numbers.

auntietk - yes, I've used the Advance Search before, but I don't think it looks like that is coming back. I guess they have their reasons. It would be much preferred, but I'm not holding my breath. However, I usually remember where I see things (page-wise), and I also do searches that way. Also, I believe KimberlyC was referring to the suggestion that, if they keep that awful scrolling paradigm, perhaps they could at least think about a compromise by putting page numbers at the top. I doubt they will agree to do that, hence my wishing her success. By the way, I've quite enjoyed reading your nods and prods to the powers that be during this latest re-design. They seem to be listening to some of them.

MistyLaraPrincess - that is wonderful detail, which is something I really like. A stack of books, an open book, a piece of fabric coming out of the coffee-table chest, chairs and stools and table props, the canes, the detail on the wood, the linen on the kitchen table covering a bit of food (bread?), a serving of corn, and turkey and red meat (poor little puppies - I'm a vegetarian). The lighting is well handled, especially the brighter light that comes in from the outer foyer that creates a nice light shadow. It almost looks Bavarian. especially with the wall hangings and sled. Very nicely done and well composed. Nicely done, indeed. And very nice light projections from the lamps, as well. I might have put a tiny bit more yellow (ever so slightly) in the flame above the kitchen table, but it's still an A-plus.

KimberlyC - I hope you are successful.
Oh, and by the way - the front page of the Renderosity website where it tells us how wonderful things are now, and just above the login button, a preposition is missing. It says "We have thousands 3D model, etc" and should read "We have thousands of 3D models, etc" and so forth. Probably not a bad idea to correct that, since it is the first page many people will see.

Cybermonk - WE ARE TAKING THESE ELEPHANTS OVER THESE FREAKIN MOUNTAINS!!!!!! - I was on the floor laughing after that one. Nothing like a little Carthaginian humor to lighten up the day!

MistyLaraPrincess - I think they are on the light gray bar below the darker gray/black top banner, with Submit near the center and Upload Art (or something like that) to the far right.

LuxXeon - you are a tenacious fellow! I thank you for all the investigative effort. Yes, it must be that changes are still cascading down to other things and the file locker is probably not up there with, say, the Marketplace which would logically come first. At least I no longer feel persecuted! I should probably refer to you as Dr. LuxXeon now.

Cybermonk - yeah, I doubt seriously that Bondware cares even one whit whether I spend less time here or not, especially if the attitude goes all the way up, as you say. One less shopper isn't going to hurt them. Bondware looks to be a pretty big company now, so Renderosity is probably nothing but pocket change to them at this point. Who cares about some old art community, right? The moderators probably care what we say, but in the face of Bondware and its programmers I doubt they have much power. Too bad. It used to be a nice place to visit. I don't post much at all, but I have certainly read much that bagginsbill and those who discuss things with him have written. It helped me to understand Poser a lot more, enough so to move on to modo, which is probably where I'll spend more of my time now.
A_Joker_B - (I can't wait to see what Markdown does with that name!) yeah, I didn't go to the linkedin site, but I did look them up elsewhere, and see that they have a footprint in the news industry. So I'm sure we're just small potatoes now. I can imagine them selling off Renderosity at some point in the future.

Glitterati3D - Bondware! Of course. I had long since forgotten Bondware was Renderosity. I did suspect that the answers we were given by BWSupport were coming from programmers, which is neither good nor bad. Attitude, now that's a horse of another stripe.

I've answered you directly on this multiple times.
Wow. That is an aggressive and harsh answer. Who or what is BWSupport? I have been a 2D painter and draughtsman for 45 years, and now am trying to learn 3D art. If BWSupport does not know how to interface with an artistic community, it/he/she should not attempt to do so. The e-mails we were getting listed the artist who had uploaded new art, had a link to the specific art in question, and a link to the gallery. We don't always have the time to check the Activity Feed, which seems to be a new paradigm introduced solely for the sake of novelty, when the old way was a far better solution, and a straightforward, much simpler approach. If Renderosity is going to start bashing us for having opinions, then the idea of community is already dead.

And yet Renderosity's own TOS states that no restrictions are to apply. Sounds like a restriction to me. In a big way. And on the 2nd of September!
Thread: Please revert to previous design - this is awful! | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Yesterday, I posted a new thread on the Community forum ("Say Goodnight, Gracie"). Apparently it was removed after a short while because management didn't like what it said about management decisions. It was harsh and it was critical, but it was not obscene in any way. And other than saying management (or management styles) were hardheaded and intransigent, it was not derogatory. Critical, but not derogatory. But, hey, it's Renderosity's web site. I have now reduced my 27 pages of items in my Wishlist ($12,500) to a single page ($500). Because, hey, it's my money. I will make a couple of more purchases and then delete the rest of the Wishlist (that first purchase was last night; one to go). After that, my time here will be brief. Wow, 12 years as a loyal customer made no difference at all. Wow.

First, I commend Renderosity for adding a vendors selection at the bottom of the Marketplace dropdown button on the home page, and then re-installing a dropdown vendor list on the subsequent vendor page. Thank goodness for that (although you still have to go the vendor page to find it). Your coders might think about using a subfolder/submenu on the main page where the Marketplace dropdown is, and then at the bottom where the selection for the vendor page is found they could code a hover button or selection button for a submenu popup to the right or left of the vendor list, thus allowing the user to select the vendor immediately (or use it to find out the spelling - people don't always use things the way one assumes). There is Java code for this, and it should be easy for them to find it and adapt it for their use. It's called a JMenu and would be added as a child to the current JMenu or JPopupMenu. If they want to consider using that paradigm and can't find the code, let me know and I would be happy to e-mail a generic version of it to them. It would basically be a version of the CascadeMenu.java code, with which they are probably familiar (if they are using Java - otherwise I'm sure whatever language they are using would have similar code). Just a suggestion.

Ah, as for the great vendors here, I should also have included sandra-bonello, lilflame, sveva, hameleon, Darkworld, coflek-gnorg, hongyu, 3-DArena, Shana ShanasSoulmate, SWAM, Al3d, Mairy, 3Dream, Belladzines, P3D-Art, Atenais, lululee, CJ-studio, renapd, halcyone, boundless, ironman13, Pretty3D, BadKittehCo, Arrin, Nationale7, DreamlandModels (and not just Dreamland), vyktohria, Val3DArt, kobamax, Richabri, Godin, Freja, Adiene, Maddelirium, and of course Biscuits, fabiana, addy and Anagord! And the list goes on!

jennblake,
As for me, I use a MacPro with Snow Leopard (10.6) and Safari 5.0.3 (which is the last version to work with Snow Leopard). Any further upgrade to either OS or Safari would require me to upgade rather expensive music applications, which I am not willing to do. If your re-design now forces the user to upgrade to later versions of either, then I would say it was a bad decision to re-design an already completely functional business site. So, if the answer is going to be I need to upgrade Safari, which would require a upgrade to my OS, then my response would be to reduce my wishlist here and probably do much less shopping here. Which is a shame really, because some of the best vendors reside here - Applejack, Rhiannon, Dreamland, 3D-Age, powerage, kaleya, outoftouch, and Sabby, Silver, nikisatez, nirvy, and a host of others. You know, just because someone cuts a new road through the forest doesn't necessarily mean it will lead to a better place. The road we had was well-paved and well-traveled for a reason.
