Operaguy:
Will the mdd plugin work in Pro2010?
Also, does the autorig in Messiah work on V4?

Everthing the other folks said. However, if you are looking to get 'Hayden' or any of the other 'realistic' faces of real people, you should go to DeviantArt and read the short description by Fygomatic concerning his technique of modeling and texturing. It is in the comments section of his gallery. Then you will need the two elements you cannot buy (at least I cannot--time and talent).
I think the guy is amazing.

So, the files are probably associated with irradiance caching, and they are probably a waste of space.
Does anyone have any idea how they might be used in subsequent renders of the same scene but with characters whose positions and poses have changed, in order to reduce the time used for pre-calculation during rendering?
I should mention that these are big files, at least as big as the scene file itself.

Yes. I use IDL. I surmised they might be associated with Irradiance Cache. Will keeping them speed rendering?

Thread: Delete 32-Bit Poser Pro 2010 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have a 64-bit system. When I installed, there was a little check box on one of the installation screens with a check mark in for 32-bit files. I unchecked that box and did not install the 32-bit material. I was lucky to see this little box, and I wonder if a more prominent notice should be placed in the installer.(maybe an uninstall and reinstall is the easiest or safest way to approach this.)
So far I have not noticed any effect from not having the 32-bit material. In fact, Pro 2010 is the best poser version that I have used, and that goes back to version 3.

Thread: What is the best size for a graphics tablet? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I got the Wacom Intuos 4 (small) about six weeks ago. My incentive was the handwriting support in Windows(XP forward). My idea was to use it to replace both the keyboard and the mouse in everything. (After twenty five years of working with computers, this lurch from familiar methods was irrational, not considered.) I was incredibly lucky. I have uninstalled my mouse, and stood the keyboard against the wall behind my desk.
Caveats:
1. Take the learning curve advice folks have mentioned seriously. You need to train your reflexes to a new landscape. But it is worth it.

Thankyou all for the responses so far. I think I asked the wrong question. I actually bought the Wacom and am using it now. So far l have found that with practice; it is much better at all the basic things in Poser, at least for me, than the mouse I was using. That probably says more about my lack of skill than the merits of the machine. I should have asked "once you take the plunge, what's the best way use it"?
Thank you again.
Thread: POSER 8 - to get or not to get | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My question:
I have a Quad core w/ Vista 64 bit, and 8gb RAM. With Pro 7, I just easily rendered a scene--8 fully clothed V4's and 6 fully clothed M3's in rather detailed 'ballroom' set'. The resource monitor showed the background renderer using 6.1 gigs (including OS) with virtually no disk thrashing.
Poser 7 would choke in its own blood on this scene (tried it). Can Poser 8 handle such a thing? If not, I think I should wait. Ideas?
Thanks for any help.

JoeGLaine,
I had in mind just your situation. Small projects. Often long deadlines. Work any time of day. Specs can be emailed, and the same with product. (Hard copy production is no your job.) No appointments are necessary.
Example: A couple of months ago I started, developed, negotiated and settled a small case from 200 miles away without a phone call, scrap of paper (until the settlement agreements needed to be signed.) or 'face to face' with the other lawyer. There were no meetings.
Used a couple Poser renders in the last proposal. All done from my home computer late at night and on weekends.

Long throw from left. If you have some experience with Poser, and even some Poser animation
experience, you might make more and quicker money doing renders and animations as demonstrative exhibits for lawyers. Tryu contacting small to medium size firms in your area.
Just a thought.

"ctrl-D" 'drop to floor'...this reattaches the props for me. Perhaps 'reattach' is incorrect. Maybe it 'reseats' them, as the parenting is still there.
