Thread: Genesis 3 in Poser (really!) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
When V7 is free I will look at it closer to see what advantages G3 has over G2. It obviously already has rigging advantages...
I am curious thou, does V7 support Ptex and/or UDIM UV mapping?
There is no need to wait. All of these are features of G3F which is free and already in your account as part of the Genesis 3 Female Starter Essentials. V7 is just another shape for G3F and not required to use these features. This download also includes the clone for fitting G2F clothes. I would be interested what you think about the rigging and mapping in more detail.
G3F and V7 use UDIM UV mapping.

Thread: NPR | Forum: Vue
I've tried it now, and actually I'm wondering if it is real NPR or just a postwork filter? Â anybody know?
Love esther
As far as I can tell it is a mix. You need to activate it before starting a render and then Vue collects additional info with the render (similar to G-buffer/layers). This information is then used in post processing to apply the effects. So without activating the NPR render you cannot use it, but it is not applying the effects directly during rendering. This has the advantage that you are not locked into one style, but can also be limiting especially when one tries to use it with animation. What I found is that it is best to replace all materials with simple ones for NPR. That gives very fast render times and most detail doesn't matter if you use the NPR styles. So, it is more than "just" postwork, but less than a NPR that works at the shader level. Which one is better will depend on what you want to accomplish.

Thread: Vue 2015 has been released | Forum: Vue
Bonjour
I have installed now Vue Infinite 2015
In the email received today about this new version  I see the possibilitiy to import zbrush file via GOZ
Since i also have Zbrush R7 i am interested by this new feature
But i cannot find where is the GOZ plugin and how use it ??
Someone have some idea about it ?
Thanks
You need to run the install script inside Z-brush. It is explained in the Vue 2015 documentation: Â http://www.e-onsoftware.com/wiki/Vue/index.php/Documentation/Building_Scenes/Editing_Objects/Working_with_Pixologic_ZBrush

Thread: Is Vue community erroding ? | Forum: Vue
Quote - It isn't eroding at all..... it has already eroded. There is no Vue community anymore, not here, not at Cornucopia3D, E-Onsoftware or any other forum. The last thing I heard is that there is a facebook group that is quite active, but I'm not sure how many people are in it. Seems invite only and a bit secluded.
The "Vue Galleries" Facebook group is indeed very active. There is nothing "Elite" about it. We have many Vue beginners as well as "Professionals". The only reason it got switched to "closed group" was the attack of spambots and some concerns of members that preferred not to have the group posts appear in their other feeds. I would be happy to send an invite to anyone here that would like to participate. Just drop me a message here at Rendo.
The group currently has 1367 members (of course only a subset of those is posting regularly). There are many questions, tips, and artwork posted every day. Of course we also have occasionally the usual ever recurring forum discussions (What is art?, is 3D art?, ... Â Among the members are also the CEO of e-on software and several other e-on/cornucopia3D people. At least 5 of the 2014 Environment competition finalists are regulars in the group. There is also a quite large repository of files, tutorials, and other helpful things.Â
Anyway, the Vue community on Renderosity might be dead, but overall it is alive and more active than it has ever been here or at any other form I have been to in the past 12 years.

Oh, and there are actully several other Vue groups on Fb focussing on other languages (German and French for example) or specific topics (SciFi or Plant design).
Thread: Is Vue community erroding ? | Forum: Vue
Hello Nosiferret!
Not sure where you looked but there are hundreds of free Vue tutorials out there. Two of the best sources are:
http://www.geekatplay.com/vue-tutorials.php
and
http://www.silverblades-suitcase.com/tutorials/htm/index.htm
You will enough find enough beginner and advanced stuff there to keep you busy for months...
Regardsing questions: I always try to answer if I have a good idea about the solution, but the Vue forum here has very low traffic. I only check in once or twice a week. I answer questions at the DAZ forums or if you are using Facebook, the Vue Galleries group is the most active Vue community I know about.

Thread: Gold mesh texture in Vue? | Forum: Vue
Quote - Is it possible to modify the gold matarial in Vue so it looks like gold meshing or do you have to creat a whole new material?
Any help you can give would be appeciated :D
Â
You can simply paste a mesh type function from another material (there is at least one example in the metal materials) into the transparency tab (under variable transparency) and then optimize from there.Â
That would be the fastest I think.

Thread: Is Vue community erroding ? | Forum: Vue
Hello!
I don't think the Renderosity forum is representative for the Vue community. I started here but have mostly moved on to other communities. The most active place is the Vue Galleries group on Facebook and there are several other Vue groups (and 3D plant groups). That's where I mostly hang out these days. I just drop in here every once in a while to see if anything interesting came up or to answer some questions.
I am on maintenance for both Vue Infinite and TPF and will defintely get the next versions.Â
So, I think the vue community is alive and well (we have lots of good discussions and exchanges of ideas/tips etc on the Fb group), it is the Renderosity forums that are on life support (not just the Vue one).

Thread: Marvelous Designer 4 Public Beta still has 12 days to go. | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - > Quote - Ever wanted to give Marvelous Designer a try?
The Public Beta of Version 4, featuring a lot of new features, will allow you to do just that for the next 12 days.Â
New Features include a.o. quad meshing, symmetric editing and more. Look here for details.
Â
Â
Where are you downloading MD 4 at? Â I don't see a link
Go to your account and click on "Start now". on the following page is little floating box that says: "MD4 open beta", once you click that you get to page from where you can select to participate. Once you agree to the conditions, the download will added to your account.
Actually the "open beta" box appears on a number of pages.

Thread: Marvelous Designer 4 Public Beta still has 12 days to go. | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Well, I would like to simulate the cloth in MD and then send the obj to DAZ Studio. That requires the target pose in MD. In any case, I found one possible path: I can save a .dae with animation going from t-pose to target pose in Studio and load that into MD. This works and produces very nice results.
Thanks

Playing with this right now. Thank you for the heads-up. It is a nice tool and I got some useful results pretty quickly. I only have one problem:Â I cannot get poses to work (Genesis 2 female exported as Collada from DAZ 4.6). The posed .dae files come in fine and the rig is there. But when I save a pose file in MD, it has no effect when I load it. Do you know anything about that by any chance?

Thread: Data Folder Required for Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - I want to move all my 3d stuff over to my Poser Runtime and I'm wondering if the data folder from the DAZ runtime is necessary? I know DS needs it but does Poser need it?
Thanks.
No, Poser doesn't need it.
Â
That is true if you are using only pure Poser format content. If are planning to use any content that requires the DSON importer (Genesis, G2 and some other recent content), the data folder is needed as that is where the geometries and morphs live. So, if you don't have any content of that type or don't want to use it anymore, then you do not need to copy the data folder.Otherwise you need to move it too.

Thread: Some Advice Please! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Basically if I gave my person a sword, I can make light emit from it? Like its full of power?
And thats a long video! O_o
Â
You can do that easily in the software you are using now (DS and Lux). I would recommend that you save your cash and learn to use the software you have. Jumping from program to program is not going to miraculously make you an expert. Only working with the software and making use of the many tutorials out there will. Once you have mastered a program it will be far easier to add additional tools. I use DAZ Studio, Poser Pro 2014, Vue Infinite in addition to Luxrender and Octane. I also use Max and Z-brush for modeling, but I did not learn all of those simultaneously. I started with Poser, then moved to DS and added the other tools of ther past 10 years. Just my two cents.
This is not supposed to sound harsh. Just my advice based on experience. I have seen a number of people that have gone from program A to B to C and in the end gave up because they never took the time to get a good grasp on either program.Â

Thread: Genesis 2 to Vue 11 Infinite | Forum: Vue
Don't know if you have found your solution, but here is what I do using Vue 2014.5 with the October 2013 Poser SDK. If I recall correctly, this worked in Vue 11, too. As in your case with default settings, you get one mesh with the subD cage included (the T-pose figure). Change the Poser import settings as shown in the screenshot, make sure that "Group Figures as Single meshes" is unchecked. Upon import completion you will still see the extra mesh, but if you expand the figure you can now find the "SubD" sub-mesh and hide it from render or delete it. Hope this helps.
