Regarding the texture cache, I have noticed that Poser8 writes texture cache files (*.exr files) in a temp directory on my harddisk. The path to the temp is...

TempPoserPosertexturecache
Well, I guess it did it before SR1 too, but after installing SR1 I noticed that those cache files doesn't get deleted after closing Poser. Those files are quiet big and can easily amount to 1 GB after just one short Poser session. Shouldn't they get deleted automatically?

Thread: Poser 8 SR1 now available | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have to agree with TrekkieGrrrl, the decimal point/comma bug is annoying as hell. AND, it's an old bug!
We got the same bug with the first release of Poser 5 if I recall correctly. It was fixed quickly with a service release and never showed up again in later Poser versions. I'm very surprised that bug is back with the initial release of Poser 8.
Other than that, Poser 8 SR1 runs great so far.

Thread: Is there any other way to work with the Poser 8 library? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - My PX - Poser eXplorer has just been updated to work with Poser 8, and I just released XL - eXtended Library, a new library system for Poser 8.
Dimension3D, your XL-Extended Library looks very interesting and I consider purchasing it. Especially for the nice built-in scripts. However, I'm a bit concerned about the loading speed of your library. As we now have the very fast flex tree library, how fast (scanning, loading all the thumbnails, etc.) is your library variant when using a huge single poser library? Any further info for me?

Thread: Poser 8... First Impressions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My P8 first impressions (used all Poser versions since Poser 4):
Positive
P8 with all my runtimes attached (all in all around 100 GB) loads in just a few seconds. My P7 used to take several minutes lately to start up.
The new library is lightning fast compared to earlier versions and adding and switching runtimes works like a charm.
Render speed and quality is much improved.
So far, P8 runs stable and smooth on my machine (WinXP, NVidia, DualCore, 2 GB Ram), but I never ever had a crash with P6or P7 either and I use Poser almost daily.
Negative
The thumbs in the new library are ridiculous small (until you select an item) and that alone makes browsing the library imho in no way an improvement over earlier versions. It seems even more annoying than before to browse your content. And I couldn't care less for the new search function. I have a lot of content, but it is well organized and I know where to find my stuff.
Some older python scripts don't work anymore but that was predictable.
Digital download of P8 and all the content is a pain in the a$$. Slow servers, gigantic archives (why can't they split them in smaller ones?), many dropouts and no resume function. Still wasn't able to complete the content download and I started 12 hours ago.
More later...
Thread: Poser 7 - newb - DM Scenes pz3's - where? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
PZ3s do not show up in the library. You have to either open (create a new scene) or import (into a existing scene) them through the main menu.

Well, it does not work for me (GeForce 7600GS, WinXP32). Never ever had a crash with P7 before, but with this new driver I get an instant crash to the desktop as soon as I move the camera. Back to my old outdated driver (162.18).

Thread: New Rules about offsite Merchant postings -- Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I very rarely post in the forums, but I am a long time Renderosity customer who has spent ridiculous amounts of money here for something that is just a hobby, and I am absolutely infuriated by this new rule. You (the management) have destroyed one of the most valuable assets of this web site. I used to come here on a daily basis to peruse the new products forum to see what was being announced from the community at large. Now all I see is what I could find by browsing the marketplace, which I did anyway - before I would browse the forums. I no longer have any good reason to come here on a daily basis, especially since I now have to visit a whole bunch of other sites directly to see what is new. That means I will spend less time browsing the RMP and more time on other merchants' sites which means less sales for you. Please rethink this rule, as it will only hurt Renderosity in the end both in terms of lost sales and unhappy customers like me.
I completely agree! Couldn't have said it better. Renderosity will quickly lose it's status as my main info center for what's going on in the community.

Thread: Reminder of the day: Funny Poser behavior: always have a figure in the scene | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
just found some info about this error in the P7 forum at content paradise. It has to do with using depth mapped shadows (it won't happen if you use raytraced shadows) and with rendering in a seperate process.
Teyon over at CP wrote on March 11:
"We're already aware of it and working on a fix but thanks! We expect this to be corrected fairly soon.
Meant to add that if you turn off Separate Process, the problem most likely will correct itself. That's a temporary work around until the fix is ready."
Thread: Reminder of the day: Funny Poser behavior: always have a figure in the scene | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
unfortunately I can confirm this strange behavior in Poser 7 SR1 (never happened in any other Poser version before). There must be at least one non hidden figure in the scene. Otherwise Firefly renders a blank scene on my machine. And to make things worse, this figure must be a people figure (V3, V4, A3, etc.). I have tried it with many different props and with other "figures" like buildings, vehicles, plants as well. No way! Really strange and I have no clue why this happens.

you're not alone. Same problem here, my P6 serial number doesn't get recognized for the G2 James. Any ideas? Anyone?
