I didn't do a new partition when I put OSX on, though I did install a new OS9 system and trash the old one so that both systems would be up to date and installed together. The other classic applications I have not been able to afford to upgrade are working just fine so I don't think it is system 9 causing any more problems than it ever has. I will try backing my entire Poser folder off the machine, run norton and speed disk and so forth, then put it back on. It sounds like there is something looking for the old system 9 folder which of course isn't there anymore. Maybe pulling poser completely off and putting it back on will make behave. Thanks for the ideas, I didn't even have a tact to take for solving the problem before. Thanks for

Poser 4 runs fine in Classic mode under Mac OS X huh. Your're having way more luch than I am. I click on the Icon and get the error message "the application Poser 4.0 has unexpectedly quit" before it even opens. It has been that way since I upgraded to OSX. I have to actually restart in 9 to use it at all, and as I said in my last messge, it is so buggy now that I can't use it. The only thing I can think of is that I did not reinstall any of my os9 applications when I installed OSX, so if you installed poser 4 after installing OSX (or if your computer came with OSX already in place) that could explain the difference. If that is the case, let me know and I will do a reinstall. I dread taking that step since I have so much Daz and free stuff in the directories and reinstalling all (or even some) of it does not seem like a fun chore, but if it would mean I could use Poser again and potentially get the pro-pack, it would be worth it. Thanks, Troy

Is anyone successully running P4 in system 9 emulation mode under OSX? I uprgraded to stop the out of memory error problems in Cinema 4D (it works great now...I can do much more complex scenes and models with OSX then I could in OS9) and I have a gig of RAM, but I am unable to run P4 without restarting the machine in system 9, and even then it crashes after not too long (it was never super stable, but now it is awful....and it takes a minute or two (feels like five or ten) everytime I hit the save button so P4 is completely unviable for me at this point.) I wouldn't mind waiting so much if I were able to still use Poser in any way shape or form, and I would love to be able to just upgrade to the ProPack and use it with Cinema, but since I need OSX to run Cinema with anything as complex as a poser character, and Poser absolutely refuses to run under emulation, I am completely out of luck. What methods are other people who have switched to OSX for most of their programs using to still be able to use Poser 4?

Go to Zygote's home page http://www.zygote.com. There is a bunch of stuff or Victoria for sale there and on the Renderosity, and on BBay.com.

(Wow, it took a lot of searching through the archive to find this message trail again...) I wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions. I think this time out I will just turn up the temperature in the scene and use a tank-top. Maybe one of these days my own modeling skills will be up to the task (then I will need help with all the joints and parameters and stuff I keep reading about on the character creators forum!) Will post the picture when done. Troy
Thread: Victor/Millennium Man (what should his name be?) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What about Albert? After all, they are the royalty of the Zygote product line. My other line of thought though goes with the people who feel that the millennium woman should have been left unknamed so I would be fine if he did not get a name at all. (And lets face it, whatever he is named will be reduced to the shortest possible monosyllable grunt right away anyway so there is no point in agonizing over the choice.)

After posting the above, I found the following on a Cinema4D plugin site http://www.c4d.de/downloads_40.php3 (the official one just opened at Maxon as well). This is the Altavista translation from the German post: Poser3 OBJ Loader V0.1 - Peter Georg Schmidt (eMail:pgs@bison soft.de) import filter with the Morhtargets for Poser 3 figures to be created know. PLEASE THE CONTAINED ONE LIESMICH.TXT FILE EXACT READING! I will do "an exact reading of the contained .txt file" this evening when I get home. whether this plugin simplifies the process or not, it looks like I will be buy Cinema4D! Troy

I am not even thinking that far ahead! In fact I am trying not to think about what the upgrade may cost... After reading the tutorial, it sounds like if you use Cinema4D you just remap the characters to start with and the process will not be too much of a hassle. I am curious if the mesh fix that UV mapper does causes problems if the character is brought back into Poser. Even if fixing the mesh needs to be your last step, if the textures are built for Cinema4D from the begining, it sounds like it might be pretty okay.

It is $495 even for the XL version (usually $1,495)! I will drop Steve a line at Poser world and post the answer he gives me (I just surfed out to Poser World to see if the tutorial was posted, but did not see it (but then, it has been a long day!) Thanks, Troy
