1920s Gangsters favored the drum (more ammo), while World War II marines favored the box (no bullets sloshing around on night patrol.) Because the Army (stupidly) didn't buy it early on, it got sold to a lot of other people (many State Troopers carried it from the '20s through at least the '40s, for instance), so it's a good prop to have in your toolbox if you do 20th century historical renders.

Well, I certainly couldn't make anything out of the .uvs file, but there looks like a lot of information in there. I'm glad to get your opinion, c1rcle. Anyone disagree?

dodger, will that * trick work with one selected material, leaving the rest untiled? Is the * thing documented anywhere (and if not, how in God's name did you learn about it)? Thanks!

Thread: Victoria 2.0 height? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The official Poser height translation is 1 Poser unit = 8 feet. In Poser 5 you can see this directly, as it will display in real-world units as well as Poser units. (The first release of Poser 5 had this scale wrong, and I like to think my early and loud complaints helped them to get it right in all subsequent releases.)

Dr Geep has long and ably argued for his own standard, which does make some kinds of calculations easier, and for which he has posted nice rulers in the Free section.
But his standard makes Vicki nearly 6'2", taller than all but one or two of the tallest supermodels -- a basketball player, really.
This is why I prefer the official standard, which makes Vicki about 5'10". Still considerably taller than average, but not out of line for a fashion model.

I don't see anything reversed or wrong with Jim's and Tashar's pictures -- no offense, Soluble, but I find them a lot easier to focus than yours, which seem too far apart. (Though I do get yours at about three feet.) I can sit nearer to the screen with Tashar and Jim's. (Jim says to go to six inches, but I get more out of it at two feet.) It seems highly unlikely to me that either of them would not understand which angle goes with which eye -- I think you just have to face the fact that different people's eyes tackle this artificial focusing problem differently.

Thread: Age old Forum Software question......... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I was getting all expected e-bot notifications this time last year . . . had a period of a week or two when I got none, at which time the moderators told us there was a problem . . . had them resume at almost a hundred percent . . . but currently, for the last several weeks, have not received a single one.
Go figure.
Thread: Help! One-Sided polys rendering on both sides??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm with theoart. That sounds normal to me, I've never experienced the one-sider any other way. 0 side is invisible in preview, but in render you see the 1 side backwards, as if light were going through it as well as being reflected by it. Every now and then it would be nice to have a one-sider be truly invisible on the far side, but more often the way it currently works is a useful texture-saver.

You're a wizard as ever, Jim. I've yet to get a nice-looking slim V3 with good legs, using DAZ morphs. But I haven't been trying that long yet.
