Would RTEncoding benefit DS ppl tho? o.O
Laurie
Wouldn't matter. The DAZ EULA is very specific on the use of DAZ intellectual property and competing figures. So you'll need to encode any clone to it's original figure, the same goes for most commercial figures.
The main issue is that you could export any cloned clothing from Daz Studio without the need to own the figure
The only way to know what DAZ will allow regarding a clone of any of their figures is to directly ask DAZ. DAZ is the only one that can give permission...no matter what anyone else thinks.

Quote - Rawnrr , "The ways of applying morphs are different"
This is funny, is it doom and gloom day or? Are you sure the you rose with the right foot first from the bed today?
The way you CREATE the morphs are exactly similar with both programs. In your external modeler. You use the same morphs in Daz and Poser. APPLYING morphs take only a few seconds in either programs- big deal!
True that how you create morphs are the same...if you use an external modeler. But there are some folks that make morphs using deformers or magnets. So the methods can be different.
What Rawn means is that the method of saving a morph as a distributable file is different. I haven't done any morphs in Poser for a long time and I doubt the saving process has changed much there. In DS some steps are similar while others are very different.
Basic rundown on morphs in DS...
*bring in the morph using morph loader/morph loader pro - give it a name & do any reverse deformations needed.
*the morph is now listed in the parameters section - go into the morph settings to adjust settings, add thumbs & path settings (for example you creat an elf ear morph you would set the path to figure/head/ear/fantasy scifi).
*now you go to File>Save As>Support Asset>Morph Asset(s) - this saves the morph into the My Library/Content folder...you select the folder you want to save to, put in your vendor & product name.
Morphs not saved as a support asset will be saved in a scene so if you forget to save as a support asset but saved a scene with the morph you can go back to save it as a support asset at a later date.

They have said that Dawn is NOT a Genesis morph. She will come in 2 versions...1 for Poser 9+ and 1 for DS 4.5+.
Genesis is a figure not a "system". Genesis takes advantage of DS's triax wm and can be morphed into just about anything humaiodish.

Dawn does look interesting. ;)
Since it has been mentioned by the Hivewire3d team that Dawn would be free for a limited amount of time I would like to know approximately how long that limited time will be. Any info on the possible pricing on Dawn or her add-ons would be appreciated too.

reason why daz launched studio for free, because the lack of documentation.
think there is no other reason, it's a shame that this problem happen to any daz program as carrara have no manual too. what a pitty. :$
carrara pro should be free too, as it lacks of documentation and full of errors.
Stop the tiral & error proces daz! only sell programs that are out of beta testing and have all the documentation that's needed!
DAZ has stated from the very beginning of DAZ Studio that there would be a free version as long as it was feasible. When DS4 was first released there was a basic version available for free. As to why DAZ is offering the pro version for free...I can see several reasons why (to attract new users, to get more users creating content, DAZ is being nice...), but it's not because of lack of documentation.
As for "paid for" tutorials...I'm willing to pay for them because the creator has taken the time to delve into the nooks & crannies of a program to pull out tidbits of info and put them in a clear & concise format that people can understand without a lot of hair pulling. ;)

Quote - > Quote - So DAZ should have stuck with the abilities of the version of Poser available when they started developing Genesis? But then people would be bitching about DAZ not providing a weight mapped new figure since they didn't know what direction SM was going. No natter what direction DAZ would have gone people would bitch.
Oh, poor, poor DAZ.
As said in another thread, it's DAZ and DAZ PAs who wish to sell Genesis stuff to Poser users.
You might want to consider that doing so will require NOT pissing off Poser users.
Ahhh! Speaking for all Poser users are you? If you are, then take a look at my join date here. I am a Poser user and nether you or the others claiming to speak for Poser users speak for me. And just because I also use DAZ Studio doesn't make me any less of a Poser user either.
Would I like Genesis to be usable in Poser...yes. Is that because I'm a DAZ PA...no. I want people to be able to use whatever figure they want in the program of their choice. I also want content creators to be able to create for whatever program they use. Is that such a bad thing?
What company doesn't want everyone to use their latest (& greatest) product? SM does. So why is it such an evil thing that DAZ wants the same thing?

Quote - > Quote - Now, it may be that the two programs will eventually converge again, but that hasn't happened yet. Maybe it will happen, and maybe it won't. But screaming at DAZ about something over which it has NO control at all is not going to make that happen.
I think that's one of the main things everyone is upset about...they did have control over it and chose to make a product that was not compatibible with a program that a good percentage of their paying customers use.
Maybe they thought there wouldn't be as much of an outrage about it once everyone saw the possibilities with Genesis and just jump on board....maybe they did and figured they would get enough new users buying into it that it wouldn't affect there income...and maybe it hasn't yet.
I for one and not as upset about it as I was. I have enough of my own personal problems to deal with without getting too worked up over this. If Genesis is ever fully compatible with Poser (without an exporter) I may bite. If not I think I'll survive.

Quote - > Quote - LOL, I wouldnt want to reply in here either, its rather hostile.
If you'll bother to look at the current 24 days of Christmas giveaway over there, you'll see that the hostility is being generated BY them.
There's one day in 8 where Poser users have been invited to participate in the Christmas giveaway, with a product useable by Poser users.
That pretty much says it all. Poser users are not welcome, nor are they appreciated.
You can't come to a Poser forum with that being sponsored by your company and expect anything BUT hostility.
I get the message. Works for me. I suspect most Poser users are hearing the message loud and clear - bring your money but nothing else.
I prefer to do business at companies who appreciate more than my money.
As the person who manages the 24 Days of Christmas giveaway thread I feel I need to respond to this.
The gifts are given by DAZ PA's as a thank you to customers. This is the first year that most of the gifts that have come in are for DAZ Studio. There will be more Poser content coming in as time goes on. I cannot give out what has not come in. It's that simple.

Quote - > Quote - > Quote - I tried it. And agree with DS3 users who have decided to stay with that version. Too bad Genesis doesn't work in DS3. Oh well.
At least you tried. I know the default interface is really bad and some folks just can't get past it. But not every program or upgrade will "click" with everyone. I think some forget that. And that's a pity because we can all learn from each other no matter what program(s) we use to create art.
I did hear the alternate interface was significantly better... but only available in the for-pay versions. I'm on limited funds, so I had to make decisions. <>
It does, but even without it you can getaway from the default look. Think I used Self Serve and City Limits before Darkside came out. Hopefully there will be some new looks for DS4 to become available to all users. ;)

Quote - Re: V5's low poly. I have no personal knowledge, but my understanding is that Genesis subdivides and becomes high poly during posing and then goes back to low again? So how do the bends etc. look after posing and she is low poly again? Logically she would need to be high poly all the time for everything to look smooth, right? Or does she become high poly at render time as well?
Here's how it works...Genesis is a low poly figure that DS4 subdivides into a higher poly form. When Genesis is posed or morphed DS4 stops the subdividing until the figure is still, then the subdivision is applied again. The reason this happens is because it saves calculating time. DS4 calculates the amount of smoothing according to how far Genesis is away from the camera...the closer to the camera there is more smoothing.
Now about V5 being only 2 body shapes & 8 boobie morphs...wrong! She's far more than that. She has morphs specific to her shape for things like closing her eyes. These morphs do not have visible dials, but they are tied into visible dials so that when you have the V5 shape and you use the dial to close her eyes it will be V5's eye closing morphs that will be applied. All the Genesis shapes have this while characters do not. So there is a lot going on that isn't readily visible.
I won't tell anyone that they "have" to try DS4, but I would hope that some give it a try and to have an open mind when they do. Nor will I put down the new versions of Poser because I have not used them and I would hope that many Poser users feel the same way about DS4 and it's users.

Quote - I have to question the motives too since he has openly stated that he doesn't like V5. If you don't like the subject of the thread then don't read it.
Question away, I don't use V5, but others do and a thread would be of use to them.
Plus it is hard to read quite a few Poser threads without the usual "Why don't yo Poser users use Genesis" question appearing.
Then it starts getting heated on both sides etc.
By having this thread for those that do want to work with V5 makes more sense than continuous flames appearing.
Those that use V5 can post information, Convertor info etc. to those that do want to use her.
Others can clearly see that it is a V5 thread and if they don't want to get involved, they can pass on.
That way the forums keep calm,
So, where is the problem?
All the best.
LROG
A single "everything for whateverfigure" thread is not the solution for when someone has a specific problem. The information gets lost amongst all the other posts. The single thread approach is wonderful for general chatter, but not for solving problems.
Now the problem is that you have repeatedly tried having Genesis/V5 threads moved to the DAZ Studio forum despite the threads being about using them in Poser. You have went over to the DAZ Studio forum here and started the same thread there. Why did you post in a forum for a software that you do not use? As for V5 users coming here to help...why should they when they get attacked for posting in a Poser forum?

Lol why creating this thread ? This one is enough http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2840353 !!!
I agree. I also question motives when the thread is created multiple times by someone that has another figure in their signature as well as being a project lead of said project. I'm sure if there was a problem, the mods would take care of it. ;)

Thread: Victoria 5 coming soon?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Well no matter what they do to the V5 figure, just don't include any "male morphs" into it, it's a complete waste of disk space, I might as well wait for the next version of Michael.
There really won't need to be a V5 Male morph since a user can easily add in any male shape that is, or will be, available for Genesis. It's totally up to the user wether they want to add those shapes in or not.
