Thread: Questions for the animation experts (and anyone who's kind enough to help) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
forgive me for jumping in here, cuz i'm just a poser beginner. i've done some very simplistic avi's with the standard skeleton model. are you saying that if you keep the same pose from keyframe 10 to 30, and say... have 1 second per frame, that poser doesn't hold the pose for 20 seconds? that doesn't seem right. about AM: i listened in on the email listserver for about 6 months. my advice is for you to drop AM and run away as fast as you can. rigging and smartskinning a model is a nightmare, even for the experts. i'm dead serious here... bail out now. cut your losses. if you insist on continuing, definitely join the listserver. not that its that helpful. good luck, miker
Thread: Beginner Book | Forum: Bryce
hi jhill, i just ordered kitchen's real world bryce. i'm a newbie. well, not even a newbie yet... my copy of bryce5 is still in the mail. but there seems to be consensus that the kitchens book is the bible. i looked it over at border's bookstore and it looked good. i ordered online though, because it was a lot cheaper. good luck, miker
Thread: bryce 5 books ?? | Forum: Bryce
thahks everybody, i saw the real world bryce book yesterday at border's bookstore, and i wanted it bad. but i wanted to know what all you folks had to say so i held off. i'm glad i did. i ordered it from amazon and saved about $20. i looked at the shamms book... i think it was "advanced bryce" or something like that, but the reviews said it used a lot of other expensive software and plug-ins, so i bailed on that. thanks, zspider
Thread: making poser props ?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
thanks to everybody for responding! being a newbie i am just overflowing with questions. so the basic requirement for poser import is that i be able to export it from the prop modeller as an obj? is that correct? i've got little experience with import/export with 3D formats, but what i do have has taught me that textures are often lost. any comments on that? i'm going to give the amapi a try. and hey! what about truespace? i've got that! maybe i could try it! to bjbrown: i have one of those freebie copies of amapi, too, so maybe i will try and use it. i played with it a little and it seemed unstable. but with a rookie behind the wheel, what can you expect? hahaha. to sharen: thank you for the freebies link. i'll check them all out! i'm just a hobbyist so the 3Dmax is not an option. i notice that rhino is very popular, but even it would stress my budget. i've got amapi and truespace. i think i'll give them a try, now that i know that obj export seems to be the key. to peejay: thanks! thats a great link. lotsa free software. to jon: i will keep wings3D in mind. thats interesting that you mention uvmapper. i downloaded that here recently when somebody mistakenly told me that i could use it to generate the mtl file for a poser3 obj export. so wings3D won't texture itself? oh! i bet it will texture but the uvmapping is a step above simple texturing. am i right? again, thanks to everybody! your help is much appreciated. zspider

Thread: Render a wireframe...ehhh.... | Forum: Bryce
hi skygirl, yes it does! most of the ones i've seen are showing only a partial mesh superimposed over the object. i'm glad you asked, cuz i didn't know how it was done either. be sure and post when you get something you like! good luck, zspider
Thread: Render a wireframe...ehhh.... | Forum: Bryce
hahaha. i know what you got in mind! its very popular nowadays in computer 3D to put part of a wireframe on an object, isn't it? miker
Thread: bryce 5 books ?? | Forum: Bryce
thanks, whether the 4 books would work for 5 was what i was wondering, although i didn't come out and say it... there were a couple bryce books for version 4. and i can't believe the price for bryce! i'm gonna get it for $89 academic pricing. i won't be able to sell anything i make but that wasn't my intention anyway... i wanna have fun! thanks again, miker

whoa! newbie here... i just posted a question about
doing poser animating in bryce. i looked at the
subject of this post but it didn't sink thru that this
was right on target.
so i missed the half-price sale, eh? i'm deeply hurt!
;-)
i went to your site and it looks like you've done some
excellent work.
thanks, miker
Thread: Poser 5 Screenshot.....Not Really | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
newbie guy here! i don't like to run fullscreen cuz i'm liable to want to pull up a text file and make a note or open my browser and post a clueless question here, so my question is this: those two tools that cling to the right (figure selector) and bottom (animation) edges of the poser window get lost if i come off fullscreen. how do i access them if i'm not running fullscreen? i can move all the other tools, but i don't know how to move those two. thank you, miker
Thread: Poser3 export as obj ?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
hi nance, thanks! i'll give that a try. posts on other bulletins seem to indicate that the mtl export as object came with poser4. thanks again, miker
