Kitty needs a new set of claws.

Bobasaur ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 5:49 PM

Maybe in a few weeks the kitty will get some Sandy Claws. I know. I know. It's because of puns like that that my mother told my lovely wife "you can't bring him back!" She really did.

Before they made me they broke the mold!

My fictional setting of Telluria has a holiday legend of Sandy Claws. Seriously.

I'm sorry, but that toon thing is NOT a cat. THIS is a cat. Even though she is in summer coat, a Norwegian Forest Cat is the epitome of cat. Her claws are not clipped, either. :wide evil grin: Carolly

Poppi ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 8:56 PM

is that a maine coon cat? we had one, and it was very similar. hey gang...parrots are cool too. a parrot could make an interesting 3 some.

Bobasaur ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 9:01 PM

Carolly, I expected to see the cute mousie tail Photoshoped so it was sticking out of your cat's mouth :-)

Hey, Carolly...a cat IS coming ya know.

sandoppe ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 9:59 PM

I like that little cartoon cat.....but would love even more a nice long hair like Carolly's Norweigan Forest Cat! My cat Leo is alsmost the same color as Skrogg. I have Persians........hopefully some one will do a miracle one day and turn that ugly Poser cat into a Persian.....the "cobby build" kind....not the "peaks"! If I knew how to model, I'd do it myself :) Not sure it can be done in Poser.

bikermouse ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 10:03 PM

hauksdottir, Is that Skrogg ? very cute - looks like he's posing for you. I used to have a dog that did that once she knew what the camera was for. - TJ

This is Lou C. ... since we're showing off. I think the toon cat is pretty cute. I'm sure the more realistic cat will show up but this one is fun too.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 10:29 PM

Poppi, No. Norwegian Forest Cats are a distinct breed... the cats of the sagas... Freya's chariot is pulled by two black ones. They are smaller and much friendlier. It's hard to see in the picture, but Skrogg has inch-long hair on the bottoms of her feet (for running on snow) and lynx-tipped ears. In winter coat, she has a full ruff around her face. We live in California... in Norway her fur would be to the ground by now. This picture was taken last August. Bobasaur, I don't own the Mousie, otherwise I just might have! ;)~ Spit, Yes, I know a cat is coming. We've been asking for a better cat for how many years? Maybe after Vicky17.... Carolly

MallenLane ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 10:40 PM

Toonimal Kitty is supposed to be a cartoon charicature of a cat. It was never my intent to make a real cat, only a cartoon with recognizeable "cat-like" features for people who want a break from realism. I am sorry that the model seems to have offended you in some way. ML

Spit ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 10:43 PM

Heck, I'm not offended in the slightest. I think he's adorable! It's just that mousie is a little jealous that toonkitty will be the star of pictures now instead of him! BTW...when I do a YRot on the Body, it rotates around the tip of the tail. How do I fix that?

dialyn ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 10:44 PM

I don't think anyone should be offended by the toon cat, which many of us think is darling. It's just that we got over excited at the prospect of an improved cat. If you check the galleries, the toon cat is making a happy appearance in many graphics. Don't be discouraged. The little toon cat has a home on many of our computers. :)

In case you were curious, the live version of Kitty is a bit more realistic. ;) ML Spit: That was an unfortunate result of me having to move the kitty forward, and not noticing that the origin of the body channel wasn't moved with it by propack. To fix it it needs two numbers changed in the cr2, and I am not sure if everyone wants to download a new file for that.

dialyn ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 10:51 PM

Your kitty is precious. I have a weakness for orange cats...guess you couldn't have told that.

pokeydots ( ) posted Sun, 15 December 2002 at 11:06 PM

I'm not offended by the toon kitty, I'm hoping you do a dog and a parrot toon :) Purrrrrrrrrrrrrty please ;)

This is for ML......please don't take any of this wrong. Your charicature is wonderful! I immediately purchased him from DAZ when I saw him, got all the free poses that were available and am having a lot of fun with him :) Looks like there are just a lot of "real cat" lovers here right now who would like to see some serious improvements on the Poser cat:) I love your work....please continue to prouduce the fun cartoon stuff, because sometimes we all do need a break from reality....and "nekkid people" :)

sandoppe ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 12:15 AM

Just noticed the "live version" of Kitty :) What a cutie! This is what I would like to do with Leo.....create a model of him....something between real and charicature.....he's a bit of "cartoon" personality wise! :) I work on plays that star cats....Leo just finished a role as Friar Tuck in Robin Hood:) The costumes we use are more "disney like" than real. Since it is difficult to capture "real cats" in action poses with a camera, I thought about using the Poser cat as a "double" when we need more action in scenes :) But body and the parts of the fur showing needs to look like the real cat.....well you get the drift :)

Spit ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 12:19 AM

I'd be willing to download..it's not a huge file. Unless you want to tell us what the two numbers to change are. It's just that when I rotate him, he like, um, goes through the wall and in Poser things are hard enough to position as it is if you know what I mean. Is that your kitty you used for the model? He's adorable! Dialyn? Yours is a princess. Even if he might be a prince. That's one heckuvan elegant cat.

chohole ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 1:00 AM

Carolly, Skroggs is as beas=utiful as I imagined him to be, all the other cats are lovley too. Mine are common or garden "moggies" but well loved for all that. I await a new realistic cat with bated breath.

Crescent ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 11:35 AM

I don't mind hacking the .cr2 to fix this if I know where to hack. Thanks! P.S. If it weren't for the smaller paws, your kitty would look exactly like the toon cat. ;-)

MallenLane ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 1:10 PM

under the Body channel the origin reads origin 0 0.151 -0.343 it should read origin 0 0.151 -0.023 320mm forward

At least the cat has a mouth. The mouse has one painted on the texture. I wanted to be able to open the mouse's mouth and can't! And the mouse has a hunchback. There doesn't seem to be a way to get rid of it when you try to pose him standing up.

My Mimic-ready House Mouse with opening mouth should be in Free Stuff late tomorrow, assuming that nothing goes horribly wrong.

Terry Mitchell ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 8:30 PM

I just love this toon kitty! Yeah, the housemouse is cute too, (as evidenced by the many great posts of it here), but this cat is designed from the paws on up to be a whimsical 'toon star. IMHO, the mouse is good for still pics, but the cat will be more fun to animate. And, as animation is what I use Poser for, the toon kitty is gonna' be fun to work with. He/she brings a smile to my face just looking at 'em. Thanks, ML!
