Rochr, Did you want part of the background blurred too or just the figure?
I mean like you'd see when Flash zipped by (you see the motion lines and the effects to the background but only where the motion occurs)?
Just thinking outloud, i'd work on multiple layers of the figure using the motion blur and applying a mask to the front area (foremost of the motion) so no blur shows, also use different blend modes to the layers so some of the background shows through.
I know you said ...explaining so even an idiot (me) can understand... but im just trying to think out a method that might give you the effect you're looking for.
While i'm sure others will jump in and add to this, i'll see if i can do something quick and post it. (have to go to a Christmas Program tonight...so it might not happen til late...)
:)

(The attached pic is the one i want to recreate in PS. Since the original is made in 1024x768, ill have to do the postwork all over again, and my app doesnt allow larger images. Everything except the character is postwork.)
I just want to be able to cut out a piece, add the blurred one on top of the image and add radial gradient to that piece so that it "melts" into the background ! But i cant get the piece to be transparent, only red, white etc...
Any help you can give is highly appreciated!

Actually i think i got it now! In fact, its an older tip from you about using image masks and the gradient tool, an it seems to be working great! Guess i owe you another one my friend! :) Of course, if theres a better way, i would still like to know. Still trying to learn this app...
