First post I've made here in a while, but thought this one might be appropriate. Went out walking tonight around the old streets of Memphis. The big Christmas storm just missed us, so there is no snow on the ground, but cold just the same. This was one of my favorites. The building is very old (by our standards). Hope you like. Happy New Year, but keep your fingers crossed!

Great pic, really like that oppressive tone you've given it.....real cool. This building is also very much like some warehouse buidlings we have about 10 miles away - I really should go back there, coz some have deteriorated rapidly in the year since I visited them. Thanks Bud! (",)

btw, I've just noticed something that makes it even MORE sinister - follow the tone of the bricks along and immediately after the first lampost a shadow starts of a stocky man in a long sleeved coat pointing a gun to a head on the left. (Ok, the light source would have to be behind and to the right and about 4' high) but hell, it's there!!! (",)

Jordy, have you stopped taking your medication again? hmm... maybe not Jack. Would need to be something like "Marshall the Mauler", or "Dr. Marshall and Mr. Phrank." Neat shot, BTW. There was a piece on NPR the other day about some guy who photographs down in the South Chicago/Gary abandoned industrial areas. I'm timid about photographing on Michigan Ave. after dark.

After I went to bed last night it occurred to me that while the street did indeed have a yellow hue to it due to the temperature of the lights, it wasn't a yellow as the shot came out, even I didn't do any color adjustment. So, based on memory, this is the more accurate color. Tried to bring out some of the darker areas too. I think I like this one better. Michelle, add a little fog from my mountain shots, and maybe I'll have London. Might give that a try. And Jordy, I too now see the gun being pointed, and I probably always will! Misha, I would have loved to have caught that report on NPR. If it wasn't too long ago, maybe it will be on their web site. This shot is from the same kind of area, and sometimes it does get a little scary looking, but then again, that's what I was going after!

LOL, I think I see the baby Jesus in there, too. (J/K) It's one of those simple photos that is more attractive than the casual photographer might suspect. I know I should keep my mouth shut, but I can't...so am wondering if it could be improved by cropping a bit off on the right...to get rid of those small blue lights. Wondering if cropping the building from one side to the other would make the viewer wonder just how looooonnnnnng it was.

hey great shot...but i was thinking along the lines of what chuckevens said...either way i like the photo. i also see the guy with the gun....but i also see a ghost holding onto the tree as it's being sucked into the building...or is that just me..lol was it hand held or tripod setup?
