Subject: Carrara+Poser = ARGH!

Don't get me wrong; I love Poser, Carrara too, but it won't export OBJs without grouping them. Then when you import that into Poser, you get one prop. I'm trying to build a figure from the ground up, and it looks like I'll have to import each peice (Lots!) resize, reposition them and the assemble them that way. Unless anybody else has a GREAT tutorial on this, or at least some expertise in this matter and would be willing to help me out. Thanks.

That's true, it does import as one prop, but the groups should still be there in the file. Open the grouping tool, select the prop, create a NewGroup, Add all, then Spawn props. All the groups will appear as props in Poser. Delete the original and the one called "NewGroup" then follow the Poser4 instructions for creating a new figure. -JH.

Poser imports all the files I've created in other programs as one obj. But the materials are there for each part. So do as above. use the grouping tool and create a new group for each part, You can use the "add materials" to isolate parts. Then spawn props. James

Yup. The above instructions work beautifully. I have managed to generate several new character files that way.

You guys are >sniff< beautiful.... Now if only I could get my lousy joint params working nicely. I decided not to mooch someone else's skeleton, and look what it got me; grey hairs. sigh. I suppose I'll post a pic soon. Thanks again.
