Since I keep getting crashes in Poser 5 I have decided to try disable some of the Windows hardware acceleration it uses in conjunction with graphics board. From the screens I'm posting what does Poser 5 uses? I don't want to get rid of any basic Direct X acceleration Poser might make use of. Can anybody help me decide what option should I select? Above is how I have it right now.

None and the next notch over is what I've seen recommended. Actually all any of this does is force windows drivers instead of your video's. But beware, setting the slider all or almost all the way to the left can cause serious slowdowns of even the simplest graphics operations on your machine. I've resorted to doing this ONLY during beta testing of various software over the years. And I never considered a program I was beta-testing to be ready for prime time until I could move the slider all the way to the right again.

Try shutting off ansitropic filtering and anti-aliassing, esp. the filtering has posed me a lot of graphical trouble on my PC (not only in Poser). Performance should increase dramatically... Maxx

(Also found on the GeForce2 MX/MX400 tab).

I had the filtering & anti-aliasing switched off as default from the day I got my new machine, today was the first time I'd even looked at that tab :) but I've had acceleration on full with my GeForce2 MX/MX400, make sure you have the latest drivers for it too

Simon I just noticed it looks like you have 2 graphics cards installed, am I seeing things?

Looks more like 1 video card that will drive two monitors, surely? Much like mine. Never have hooked up a 2nd monitor tho :) I too have trouble shooting Poser 5 - the box keeps running away and hiding ;)

SimonWM ( ) posted Tue, 07 January 2003 at 5:21 AM

C1rcle, its one video card who has a video out connector that can be enabled and have both the monitor and a TV hooked from the video card at the same time, but that feature is disabled right now. MaxxArcher ansitropic filtering is disabled. 3D antialiasing. right now is at: "Allow applications to control the antialiasing mode"

ah I didn't realise the Geforce 2 could do that :) kill the anti-aliasing I've never used it & had very few problems with Poser5. who3d I find stapling the box to the floor helps to keep it still long enough to get a bead on it ;)
