CuriousLabs newsletter also mentioned some videos. It isn't quite like having your hand over the mouse, but we can point curious newbies to them. Dave-So, This newsletter is new. I got two copies, since I'm on two of their mailing lists... the curious list and the lab report list. I clipped here the info at the bottom of each announcement. You can probably sign up just by pasting in "subscribe" instead of "unsubscribe". :) Carolly --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: curiouslist-unsubscribe@curiouslabs.com For additional commands, e-mail: curiouslist-help@curiouslabs.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: labreport-unsubscribe@curiouslabs.com For additional commands, e-mail: labreport-help@curiouslabs.com

What I find most amusing about these videos is that... I get to hear the sound, but there's no visual content for me. Win2K Pro, SP3 plus updates since then. I think it's terrible to be releasing marketing videos that don't display, and working on Pro Pack and Mac versions when the base product still has some serious issues. But that's just me :(

I thought the videos were pretty bad anyway...as far as content...coming in right at the middle of a point, someone with no Poser or modeling experience wouldn't have a clue... But, I think they are aimed more at selling the video tutorials then Poser5. So...who3d....what's wrong with your system that you can't see the videos??? You probably need to download that DIVX5.02 kit.

Nothing wrong with my system at all. I don't have quicktime installed, but I don't see that as being a "fault".

Dave-So ( ) posted Sat, 11 January 2003 at 6:10 PM

agreed there..at least quicktime is less obtrusive than that Real crap

. did you HAVE to say that? It's irksome how many people make disagreeable assumptions on the net. I know mpeg1 is far behind in terms of compression ratio, but it's also miles ahead in terms of compatability. .

I don't understand

Sorry. Attempt at levity. Recent RealMedia, Quicktime, and .AVI/.ASF/.WMV CODECs are technically "better" MPEG files in that you can get better images for less bandwidth/filesize. MPEG files however (especially "MPEG1" - most common) play on practically anything, without special software installed. Windows95 and onwards, Macs, LINUX boxes.... so on and so forth. Curious Labs have made the (to me odd) choice of using a Mac-based video standard to advertise a currently PC-only product. They seem to have assumed that we'll have, or install, QT to watch their demo videos where they could have just gone .mpeg and had everyone able to see the clips. Sorry - my attempts at humour are usually more obvious. I hope.

AHA :) Maybe they're just trying to appease the Mac folks...give them something :)
