I assume that most of you received the recent e-mail from Renderocity concerning the Thief asking us to mail his provider and himself. Look at this crap. This is the message I sent to him: First of all let me tell you who I am. Essentially I am a member of one of the communities you see fit in destroying. You my not so good friend are a disgrace to the graphics community and I promise you that no one, and I mean no one will support your actions. Using other artist's work and not giving them credit for their work is bad enough, however stealing the work, changing the format and selling it is beyond pathetic. I suggest you cease your actions immediately, to clearify this is not a threat, just a request. Many of the artists who's work you have stolen are VERY aware of your actions and those that are not will be notified. You are only hurting yourself by continuing your actions, actions which will cease to exist with or without your permission. We have been asked by our community moderators to make it well know to you that we don't appreciate your actions and we will take the necessary steps to cure your particular "illness". Since I obviously have more "internet morallity" than you I will shy away from flaming you with insults, that you can do pretty well without my help. So I will simply repeat my request. Remove or give credit to all artists whom you have stolen material from. Since every single artist packages or claims copyrights to their work you cannot avoid them, so I would request that you remove them for this reason as well. And last but certainly not least, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES sell material copyrighted by any other individual unless given permission (which you have not received at this point). Most of the materials you have stolen were meant to be free, not sold. Selling them also puts you in direct violation of INTERNATIONAL copyright laws. Sincerly a seriously aggravated Renderocity member... Schnaps This was his reply: It is you a tremendous liar. If it has really visited my site it will have checked that I don't blindfold anything, and that the models of other authors have their credits. It is you acting of agent of a monopolistic mafia. Oh the nerve of this a**hole. Man I hope he gets his and I hope it happens soon! Have a good one! Schnaps

I agree with Allerleirauh. He is using form letters. I have seen two particular ones. It is likely he is using a combination of autoresponder and forwarder. So, basically, this means that emails to him are of little to no use. But I urge you to continue to email him if for no other reason than to force him to wade through the stuff and I am sure his ISP has to monitor his outgoing traffic at the very least. And email to his ISP is still of great importance. But his use of form letters does mean he has decided to ignore our protests and requests for him to cease and desist. It is time to move to the next level -- public humiliation. Though most of us likely make this one of our first stops each day, we all visit other sites besides Renderosity. It is time we took the time to search these sites for "his" work -- renderings, models, etc. If found, politely inform the site operator of this thief's activities and politely request that they remove his offerings as a sign of support for the generosity of the honest artists and modelers over the past years. Knowing this community, you will get a great more positive responses than negative.

Hi Folks! There's a poet in our midst!! If y'all think my nitpickin about grammar/spelling is annoying, then you're probably one of those blessed souls who has never encountered prejudice in the business world from people who assume graphic designers are poor writers, which means they're poor thinkers, which means they're poor managers. Sorry to get off on a tangent. As always, I will alert my students to avoid the wares of creeps like this one. Peter (Dr Zik)

Is his site STILL up??? Sure sounds like it, but I'm going to look in a minute. If it is, why doesn't someone just HACK his site. I'm sure someone here knows how to or knows someone who does. Put a message up on it saying he has stole that stuff or just take the site down entirely. Also, hasn't someone hired a lawyer yet???

Ankhara ( ) posted Sun, 30 April 2000 at 6:25 PM

The good side of good hackers is that they can take care of scum like that, so my suggestion is we just hire a hacker (or hitman??... j/k) to destroy his life and site or something to that extent. Sorry if this sounds bad, but if the law isn't going to teach him a lesson, someone needs to teach him one. If we just let people get away with stuff like that, there will be no reason for others not to follow in his footsteps. I used to think when I felt I was good enough, I would post stuff here too, but now I am starting to think twice about doing that. I'm starting to grow weary of even posting an uncopyrighted picture anywhere (even if it is terrible). Seems there's a lot of theft going around now days. I don't like feeling taken advantage of, which is how I would feel if I were any of the artists whose work has been stolen. The least they deserve is appreciation and respect. There are people who do worse work and get paid thousands of dollars. But I guess still the pleasure they give to the hundreds is worth more than the few bad apples that exploit them. Still, those bad apples should not be allowed to do that. And this guy is one of the worst. He could have just admitted his mistake and complied, but he didn't. He's had more than enough time to remove his site (which is basically all stolen goods), but he hasn't. Don't misunderstand me. For all you overly serious people out there, I'm not condoning murder. I meant that more sarcastically and out of anger than anything. Just wanted to state that because I have mentioned murdering someone before online (u can't hear one's tone of voice on here), and been totally misunderstood before. I don't believe in murdering people, or violence. I'm just a very passionate person and sometimes feel like it...
