having built a coffee cup model I now have to add the handle.adding and re-shaping another primitive seemmed the logical step but had trouble lining it up to the cup body withoout getting a seam.cutting and extruding faces seemed to create more problems (selection).Anyone got any other ideas?

a screen shot would help. I presume your question is not on making the handle but on positioning it with the cup?

Yes how do I align the points in red to the cup body seamlessly. The only alternative I can see is to extrude some faces and try and reshape them. Thanks eric

You might want to try the magnet tool to put a curve in that face. The magnet tool can be weighted to pull only one point or any strength beyond a single point. Then just position it and export as a single object. I think Meta tends to weld on export. The other way is as you say, extrude the faces and just sink the handle into the body. Its been a while since I've used meta. Been kinda enjoying the dvgarage thingie.

Remember you can select and extrude edges as well as faces, and you can use the knife tool to make more connecting points in a mesh (e.g. the cup). Also extra triangles/quads can be added with the `create face' tool, which can be used to link the parts. Finally, duplicate vertices can be merged. It's all a bit like virtual tailoring, really.
