what body part do i have to select to move the entire figure? i want to make a sinking type of move where it sinks through the floor, but when i pick a body part, only that part moves... how do i move the entire body? thanks!

Select "Body", that will do the trick. Click on any body part, then go to the list at the bottom of your pose window and pick "Body" from there.

Moving the Hip works well, also (unless you have IK enabled).

Hehe, yeah - leave IK on and watch the legs buckle. :)
