Subject: Separating model parts in an .obj file

I've recently downloaded a very nice grand piano. Only problem is that the keyboard is not a separate material from the rest of the model. Therefore, there is no way to create black and white keys.

I've tried using UVmapper to isolate the keyboard and apply colors, but to no avail.

Anybody have a suggestion?

What's stopping you from making a texture map with the keyboard as well as the rest of the piano? Are you using a texture image? If you like, send me the .obj file and I'll get it set up - have lots of experience with texture mapping and UV Mapper. BYS

You could also assign materials with the Poser grouping tool. UVmapper can be persuaded to work wonders, but with a third party mesh it's sometimes easier to do it in 3D.
