Subject: V2 to V3 Hair

When using V2 hair on V3 are most of you accepting the default values right "out of the box" or are you tweeking the scale and other transform parameters. If you are tweeking, please share your settings. Do you find that one setting works for all hair models? (I realize there is a fitter for "character hair". That's not what I am referring to)

It depends on the hair actually, what hair are you talking about or wanting settings for?...I'm not sure what you mean my character hair tho' Pendy

Hi Pendy, I was referring to hair that is located in the Hair folder (for example the Kozaboro hair), as opposed to hair located in the character folder (for example, the San Francisco hair, which has a "fitter" pose) My probably flawed thought process was that the hair was a prop that sat on top of V2 or V3 and that if you knew the difference in the shap of V2's head vs V3's you could simply change that shape for the hair model. For "shap" read "shape" Note to self- please proof read your posts.

Generally I have to y trans and sometimes z trans-- a very little on the z. It varies from hair prop to hair prop. Some simply won't work-- I couldn't get Flo hair to work at all, very sad about that. But most of the rest go into position with a tiny bit of help. Use the Face camera, save your favorite view and then use the trackball to check the z trans, because if the hair's not back far enough you can get some odd shadows. Hr2's are props as opposed to characters, but character hair can also be parented. If your hair has a trans off feature, use that. It makes it much easier to get into position. Emily

If you go to Display > Element Style > Cartoon w/Lines for hr2. Display > Figures > Cartoon w/Lines for figure. You will be able to see your hair to set it the way you want. You can use Wire frame, your choice. It will still render the right way. I do it that way so I don't have to play with the trans settings. Tashar 59

With Kyoko hair, I find that changing the Z Tran setting to 0.012 makes it fit Vicki 3 OK (though I usually tweak it a bit more after changing the styling etc). Hope that helps a bit!
