Subject: Deleting lights

How do you delete lights in Poser. I found that I have a total of 27 lights but only 3 which are actually on. The are only good to bog down the rendering time to a crawl. How do you clear the lights so you can start fresh. Is there a script or something. If so could some tell me how to go about writing it. Thanks in advance.

there had been a script to delete all the lights. you might check freestuff. I don't remember if it deletes all lights or all OFF lights.

There are a couple of delete light scripts.. seach fro Ockham in Free Stuff. Are you sure those 27 lights aren't doing anything? You might be surprised to find out that they are... e.d.

I have a similar question posted might look at it for some info- http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=1121928 From what I see unless you have pro pak or poser 5 you cant use the python scripts. I've been looking for several hours and cant find anything that helps cause I have the same problem.

Daz 3D has a PC Bros script packaged with the Environmental Lighting sets that will delete all scene lights and let your start from scratch. There was recently Poser 5 edition released, a little pricey but it give you a lot more control over what lights do in Poser. Lights in Poser have always been my pet peeve, hopefully Daz Studio will have a better lighting system.

Hi:

this is my python script Lightmanipulator (functions see below). It will help you to accomplish what you want. I am interested in feedback, or what you would like to see as features. I am currently adding a global light creator which is simple to use and features correct global illumination - and its free and will ever be. Deleting unused lights is not simple - and Poser has problems with this, so you select your three lights in the listbox, save them ,then delete the rest and reload your three lights.

Download the script here.......

Enjoy Mungo

i usually save one copy of the picture without lights when i start working the lights in. that way if i dont like the way they turn out, i just close the file and reopen it.

If the lights are "off," they're not doing anything but eating up little bits of memory. They're left over from whatever light set you'd loaded or created before the current one. If, like me, you're using Poser 4 without ProPack, you have to deal with these things manually. That's why I try to get everything set up first, adding lights last. If you want to experiment with different sets, start with the ones you know to have the fewest lights before moving on to things like global sets. That way, if you choose to delete residual "off" lights, there will ideally be fewer to deal with.

Don't search for "fro Ockham" fro is a typo. Should have been for. in other words: Search for "Ockham"

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
