Subject: help---Library issues in poser 5

Ok...so i went and got all kinds of free stuff today, went a little overboard (but who can resist) copying all of them into my Runtime folder, and now Poser will not open.
I rebooted, and reinstalled off the cd, still doesnt work.
I get an error "you are out of memory, please save your work and quit soon"
then i get an error saying that "" did not load properly, and that it can't load "p5casualmale.obj".
the file is there...

i have a p4 1.8ghz with 256 megs of ram, a little choppy sometimes but i have never had a memory issue like this before....

please help!

P5CasualMan.obj? It should be in your Geometries folder-subfolder P5CasualMan. P5 doesn't default to this guy so I'm guessing you have it set to open to a "preferred state"? If I'm correct, and there is an issue with the .obj(I do not see an .rsr to delete), you can change the default state outside of Poser. Check Runtime/Prefs for a file "preferredState.pz3" rename to "preferredState2.pz3" copy any ole .pz3 that you have lying around into Runtime/Prefs and rename to "preferredState.pz3" Try to open poser, if it works, then you know you have an issue with the .obj it is trying to open. Sorry if I'm not making any sense, it's getting late. Good luck! Mark

ProPack and P5 do not create rsr files, only P4 does.

You need to look for "p5casualmale.obj". Is it there? If it isn't, you need to replace it.

p5casualmale.obj is there... also i tried running the patch for figures since i had to reinstall and i got all these error messages - it couldnt update any of my default p5 obj files... what the hell...

did you try UNINSTALLING FIRST? Uninstall..make sure every thing is deleted then reinstall.

Uninstalling isn't always enough. I run Norton SystemWorks WinDoctor to clean up any stray references to the program and then defrag the hard drive and reinstall.

i'm really hoping that i dont have to get rid of all my poser files... i have the purchased stuff backed up of course, but all my freebies... :-( it lets me in...but it fights me. i changed the default figure settings but when it opens it says "would you like to save the changes you made to Untitled 1 and that doesnt go away for ten to 12 "don't save's" what a pain, i should just go back to poser4. i never had any problems with that....

Try installing it to an "other than default location"...keep your original though. If that installs fine, copy the entire "new" poser folder over to of the "old one". This should update every default file, and you will be able to keep all of your add-ons. Your geometries folder isn't "read only" is it? Mark
