After several attempts to clean up and get rid of the unused stuff in my poser files, I finally decided to dump the whole folder and start over. I really didn't want to do this but as I kept going throught the folder I kept coming across stuff that I thought was really cool, but I never used it. I planned too, just never got around to it. I had to do something, my Poser folder had just about devoured my harddrive. I can't afford right now to get another harddrive or upgrade the one that I have. Anyway I am going to be busy for the next few days going through and loading just the stuff that I use. Any suggestions on what to load. I plan to load of course Micheal and Vicky, all of BatLabs stuff and some other favorites.

Well... If you downloaded something to begin with because you liked the look of it, then by all means, burn it onto a CD, don't just delete it from your files. Other than that, populate your drive with the figures that encompass the majority of your renders. No easy task! Good luck!

I've been thinking of doing the same thing, cleaning up what isn't used, but it really is a daunting task. I have everything burned on CDs but the thought of reloading everything I use most often gives me the shivers. And, here I am, just finishing downloading DAZ's new freebie. It's a vicious circle!

I loaded poser and then deleted everything in the program that I don't use and now I have just finished going through something like 30 CD's to find Vickie, Micheal, and VV. Over the next couple of days as I have time, I want to load the props that that I use. The big space taker, is the Geomtries folder and the Texture folder. I just didn't know that to delete in the Geo folder, and that's one of the reasons for dumping the poser. Also as I have gone through the CD's, I have found some hidden gems that I had forgot that I had...

Pakled, have you installed all that stuff?! In that case your Runtime must be humongous! I have about 15 cd's (and one in the making) and a Runtime at 12Gb.But then I HAVE all the stuff installed.... sigh Just got a new laptop. trying to decide how much of the stuff I should install - or if I should simply copy the entire runtime to the new comp.... it would fill up 1/3 of the HD... not sure if hubby would like that idea.... G it's supposed to be OUR laptop... not just my Poser puter ;o)

Another thing you can do if you have two hard drives. Is move the over crowed Poser to the other drive. call it something eles. Then reinstale Poser and move what you use the most to the new Poser. You can make the old one read only till your ready to drag something out. I agree sometimes it's just impossiable to clean up poser.

Trekkiegrrrl, you must have lots of lightly compressed zips - I'm on 8-and-a-bit CDs and my Runtime is still at 16GB even after some (still ongoing) weeding! What would be useful is a little program to find orphan OBJ files, not referenced by any library file, and likewise for texture files (but less so since some freebie textures come without MAT files).

Hey I understand what you are going through. When I first started with Poser I just Had to get Everything I saw; knowing I would use it in a future creation. Now several years later, it takes me over a half an hour just to find a Vicky texture. Just TOOOOO much Stuff, that I never use! I have all my Poser zip files saved on my second hard drive, and all listed under Props, Clothes, Etc.. So the idea of uploading is not that scary. Its just finding the time to do some house cleaning. Of course my dream "fix" is just to purchase a new computer with two 120 gig hard drives and dedicate it just to Poser :) But that is not going to happen soon unless I win the lottery.
