Subject: Poser 5 .rsr and .png thingies?

Hi everyone, We're working on our first Poser marketplace product, and we are wondering how to go about managing the thumbnails for our Poser props. We can make them in the three flavours, Mac, P3 and P4 .rsr, and P4PP/P5 .png... but then what!?! :) I was wondering if it was bad mojo to put both the .rsr and the .png in our props folder with the geometry file? Would this cause problems on some configuratios? I was just wondering if it might simply let both Poser 4 and Poser 5 see their own preffered thumbnail format... Thanks for any help! :)

Including both the .rsr and the .png is no problem at all. Many merchants do it already. The users can then select which ones to install depending on Poser version. If they choose to install everything, it's no problem, but it takes up more disk space. When only the .rsr is included, Poser 5 will automatically create a .png the first time that library is opened in Poser. After that, the .rsr can be deleted. I do a ".rsr cleaning session" every now and then after having installed lots of stuff with just .rsr thumbnails...

Putting the png and the rsr in the same folder as the pp2 should not pose any problem for P5 users. I have downloaded many props in this format and everything runs smoothly, even if I don't delete the rsr.

Thanks! That's the info I was looking for. I've written up my readme.txt and I think we've got all the bases covered from tests on our own machines. But then again... you never know what will happen on someone elses desk top!
