Subject: Moving Characters between scenes...

Hallo all..

Question:

The other day I tossed together a quick scene, then saved it to work on later. Today, I began modelling a different character within it's own scene, no props, just the character itself. Is there anyway for me to bring this newly posed figure into the scene that I created the other day? I tried exporting it as an .obj file, and importing it into the scene I want it in, which works fine as it is going to be a statue, and wont have to be re-posed. The trouble I am having is that it loses it's textures, and reflection maps on the import. I'm fairly new at creating with poser pp in that I have had it quite some time but don't get the chance to use it too often. Am I doing something wrong re: the export, or the import?

Any & all help would be most appreciated..

  1. Save the new scene as a .pz3 file.
  2. Load your old scene into Poser.
  3. Import the new scene into Poser, and everything will be added to the existing scene.

Note that any lights from the new scene will be imported, also, so you might want to remove them before saving the file.

Alternatively, you can save the posed character to the Character Library, and then load it into the scene.

One note of caution on importing a PZ3 file: The lights often come along with the other stuff in the scene ... these lights show up as spotlights and shed too much light on the subject. When I decide to save a character, I delete all the lights before I make the final save. Of course, you can also save the character you built, clothes, props, and all as a new character in the character library. Sometimes I create sets that I want in the library, so I parent everything together on an existign CR2. I use a beam character from AZL's room set ... it's a one part character.
