Subject: Can .obj be made posable?

Cyhiraeth ( ) posted Tue, 11 March 2003 at 3:15 PM ยท edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 9:19 PM

Is there a way to take a static .obj (for instance, something created in a modeling program) and make it poseable? Like a person modeled in a modeling program and be able to make the arms, legs, head, etc, poseable? Thanks

Yes. That's the basis of all Poser figures. They are made posable by adding bones, which can be done in the setup room of P4PP and (I think) P5.

Of course you can. There are several possibilities: http://labreport.curiouslabs.com/article/articleview/44/1/25/ - Bad to the Bone - Creating Your Own Poser Characters Using the Poser Pro Pack http://www.morphworld30.com/dsl/class01assingment1.html - Making a Prop Posable http://webpages.charter.net/chawkins2/Tutorials/PoserTutIntro.htm - Hawkin-Z GraF-X / Poser Tutorial Introduction http://www.interneteye3d.com/Tutorials/2000/Nov/PoserFigp2/default.asp - Making Poser figures Tutorial http://www.awakemm.com/poserarcana/tutorials/cb/cb14/goldie_viewlet.html - Poser 4 Pro Pack Setup Room http://www.bryceworks.com/tutorial/mushbone/mushbone.html - Poser ProPack Tutorial: Attaching Bones to Preexisting Parts http://www.jabberdoggy.com/Tutorials/Gingerbread/GBMatrix.html - Creating a poseable Gingerbread Man Those are all links I have on this subject. You see, I've been hunting a while for it. I recently started to learn Wings3D to model my own stuff and then of course I want to make them poser-ready... If I were you, I'd want to print them all. There was another nice one for a bear by Thorneworks, but they took it down - fortunately I printed it before they pulled it off ;-) Oh and of course read the SetUpRoom section in the manual for ProPack (if you have it) - that's always a good start, to read the manual ;-}

For me, creating posable models is pretty much impossible.
I've tried every tut out there, and found it's a guessing game on how to put the pieces together for it to work.
There's only a select few that can do it.
The membership here is thousands, but only a few create posable figures.
