Subject: Which way is best - adding clothing

Is it best to add clothing then pose your figure, or pose your figure and then add clothing?

It shouldn't really matter. I usually clothe my characters before posing them, but that's coz I feel sorry for those poor nekkid things. They could catch a cold ;o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

I think it's easier to pose and then apply the clothing, just 'cause sometimes you end up clicking the clothing and posing it instead of the character. Also, for things like capes and skirts that you have to fiddle around with it's easier to know how you want your character to be posed so you can have them hanging properly. But, as my mother said when she walked into the room the other day 'I hope you are going to put some clothing on those people, because right now it looks rather lude...' :-)

I put the clothing on first, partly because I don't like to have the figures feel uncomfortable, but also because it's easier to do the basic scale and taper adjustments when the figure is in standard pose. If you get the figure all pretzel'ed up before hitting the Conform button, it can be just about impossible to make things fit right.

So really, it doesn't matter. Just users preference.

Its easier to place and parant non-smart props (jewelry, armour, weapons, hair) if the figure is in the standard 'sproing' position.
