What is it? I downloaded a file, and Poser ask for an OBJ, I checked the zip ... no obj, but it had PCF and a RSR.

The figure is based on a Poser model and includes data (mesh) from that model. This material is copyrighted to the original creator and may not be distributed in whole or in part. So how may these modified figures be distributed? The solution is to encrypt the OBJ file using the original copywriten model as the key. Upon receiving this encrypted (PCF) file a Poser user may unlock it using their copy of the original OBJ file. Bone fide Poser users will both have the same original figure, and hence the key.

The Objaction Mover program produced by Maz enables the sharing of copyrighted material between Poser users without infringing on that copyright. He has kindly made it freely available from his site. http://www.sandylodge.demon.co.uk/ (Commercial applications require permission).

Referring to the image above, the procedure is as follows:-

1. Select Decode
2. Load in the difference file. This is the PCF file that is provided in the ZIP. It should have been extracted to RuntimeGeometriesPhilCp3project1.pcf
3. Note that the original seed file name now appears in this box.
4. Load in this seed file. You will find it in RuntimeGeometriesnewFemaleNudeHi Take care to load in the correct file.
5. Click on the Convert button...... stand well back :)
6. This indicates that the file has been successfully converted. If your PCF file was in the right folder then this new OBJ file will now be there with it. There is no more that needs to be done. If your PCF file was not correctly positioned you will now have to move the new OBJ file to RuntimeGeometriesPhilC

Using pcf-files is a method to transfer geometries without actually tranferring the obj-file, usually because the obj-file is copyrighted. By using a pcf-file, you make sure that the receiver must have the original obj-file in order to use your geometry. In order to decode the pcf-file, you need Objaction Mover, a utility you can find in Free Stuff here at Renderosity (do a search for "Objaction Mover"). You also need the original obj-file of course :-)
