Subject: trouble with textures.....

I confiscated the zebra texture that was posted in this forum a couple of weeks ago...wanted to see what I could do with it..but...it's a jpg,and unless the texture comes with a certain character...I'm finding that I cant find them. The textures are listed in my poser directory..but dont show up on the sidebar. This is a dumb question, I know..but how in the heck do I get to my textures without having to have them assigned to a specific character? VelvetRose

Hi- If you're talking about the Zebra Woman texture I posted a while ago, it's meant for the Poser 4 nude woman. The usual process is to place the JPG (or whatever) picture in the runtime/textures folder. To assign it, use the libraries pull out window to add the P4 Nude woman (in the People group) to your scene. Go to render/materials menu. Make sure the correct figure is selected in the materials Object: setting at the top of the window. In the Texture Map section, click on Load, Select ZebraP4NudeWomanTexture.jpg (or whatever the filename of the picture you want to use)and click ok. Make sure you have either have texutre document display on (last sphere in the document display window) or render your scene. If you're not using Poser4, or want to use this on some other figure(like Zygote's vickie), or you're talking about some other Zebra texture, it may not work. Textures are pretty specific for the figure they were created for. I think I saw a utility to change Poser4 textures to Poser3 tetxures, in free stuff. I should be posting the actual Krysta zebra character to free stuff soon, if you want the final character with hooves and tail and all. Hope this is coherent. :) Regards- Lemurtek

Your reply made perfect sense..and yes it's your texture..I cant wait to see the model...I've gotten pretty good at making scenes..but always resort to exporting my projects to another program to do textures and such ummmm...cause I couldnt figure out how to find them..lol..I lost my manual to poser 4 when I moved a couple of monthes ago..so it's kind of touch and go with me now. I plan to post some of my work soon and would like to post the final render of your zebra woman when it's done..I love it..been looking for that texture for awhile now:)Thanks:) VelvetRose

VelvetRose, have you contacted MetaCreations about the manual? Most companies will send a replacement for about $5-10 (often plus shipping). Also, there is a PDF version of the Manual on the Content CD, IIRC. Awkward, but usable...

heya; i throw all the textures for a particular obj into the geometries folder that has the obj. that way, all the p4nudewoman textures are with that obj, the p3 with theirs, etc etc. if you do that, though, you usually have to re-load the textures onto the figures. for example, if krysta expects her texture to be in runtime/textures, poser won't find it there and won't be able to load it. you need to load it yourself, then re-save the figure.
