I am trying to make a floating grayscale palette, so I can make accurate grayscale images for terrains. I have made one here although - I miss counted and only got 248 instead of 255. It would be really useful to have a floating palette like this when using Bryce Terrain editor, if it could stay on top of the screen while working, although it would be really useful for Photoshop as well. Also it would be useful if each box would light up a semi transparent number when the cursor is over it to indicate which shade - I made the palette but don't know how to create a programe which could do this. If anybody has any thoughts or know of someone who could do this let me know please. Thanks Peter

Yes, Thankyou for the link - ....it is going to require alot of understanding to get my brain around it though - it's certainly a new concept to me. It's certainly worth looking into Peter

FYI - First time I've seen one of my tuts posted as a link!! : ) I'd be glad to answer any questions regarding the process described there.

Nuski, If I read that right the grid is used to figure out how an image will lay out when it is mapped. Where I get a little confused is when I look at your use of the blue and red images in the terrain editor. The red image looks like straight, single shaded, red lines but the resultant object bends around a terrain. Did you combine images in the editor, the grey and the red, to accomplish that bending? Did the grid do that somehow? That's the bit that loses me....
