heyas; a couple of people in the past have tried to float this idea on their own. it's interesting, though rather new and unexplored. the idea is to broker not models and such, but the images themselves. you'd need to set up a deal with a print service to output high-quality poster prints, or even prints on canvas, or those giclee things. a major target is interior decorator places and furniture stores and whatnot. people who need snazzy cutting edge 3d stuff, or people who need cool, perhaps surreal landscapes.... or just people who want posters. :) at any rate, this may be worth researching a bit.

the problem is dpi.... to sell images they must be created at a high dpi (at least 600) or they wont print.. This makes them very prohibitive to upload... it would be a large undertaking for this site, with quite a lot of hard cost upfront to get it going.. But selling my digital work is something I've wanted to do for a long time, it would be hella cool =P v 1 three

heya; yep, images would have to be created large and hi-res, which may be a departure for most of us used to working for computer screen resolution. when i looked into getting prints, they told me to do large files, but send uncompressed jpgs. they seemed sure that would be detailed enough. of course, that was for photo prints. for stuff on that canvas type prints and all, the requirements might be different.

I think that speedofdark offered to make prints for us a few months ago. I didn't ask for any details at the time. I can't remember if it was just to print comics, or if the offer included larger prints.

V13 is right. To print a poster of decent quality, you need to be able to print at at least 600dpi. That requires very hi-rez images which would be prohibitive to upload. Not to mention, working with those files on your own computer can be prohibitive unless you have lots of space on your hard drive and huge amounts of RAM! And I think speedofdark did mention something about printing posters. Worth checking back through the archives if you are interested.
